Pretty much sure you bought FX706HE with 3050Ti (reg $999, was on sale for $799)
This one is FX706HC with 3050 (not Ti version, reg $899, on sale $679)

The title of this deal states 3050 Ti. It should be 3050, not the Ti version.

Edit: OP corrected the title

I'm trying to get the wife a laptop for editing photos, would this be reasonable? Or would it be a grueling process, her current very old laptop makes editing each photo take 10-15 minutes due to being soooo slow when it should take a minute or two.
There have already been a few good replies to your post.
Let me add my 3 cents worth.

As already mentioned, more RAM is a must. Should probably have 32Gb.
And yes, an external monitor is also a must. Not only for basically truer color reproduction, but also for more flexibility: laptop monitors usually cannot be manually set for color, density, etc. adjustments, which is required when using a calibrator.
That brings me to a point: get her a calibrator, too.

I edit with a SkyTech gaming desktop and a 28" 4K monitor.
Machine has 32Gb RAM, AMD 8 core processor. RTX 2070 super.
When I edit adjustments snap in in a couple of seconds.

This should be good for that. Going to Windows 10 will be a big pain. I still use Windows 7 in most of my computers. And you may (will) also want to put in a 1-2 TB SSD if there is room. Since it is a 17" there should be. You want to keep all your data on another drive just in case your boot drive bites the dust. And also back up your data drive often with a portable drive. Also you will want to bump up the memory to 16GB or 32GB if you can afford it.
Agreed whole-heartedly on everything except upgrading to 1-2 TB SSD, at least until they come down in price, along with video/graphics cards. After all, this is Slickdeals. Great job helping others.

32 GB is definitely overkill. 16 GB is more than enough, and the current "sweet spot."

Not if you work with several layers.

32 GB would also be prohibitively expensive. As others have stated, most people don't even need 16 GB. This laptop would be a huge improvement in every way and his wife can try it out as is to see if more RAM is needed. If so, 8 GB can be added for dual channel mode while keeping existing RAM. For ~99.9% of people, 32 GB RAM would not provide any additional performance increase over 16 GB RAM.

EDIT: Not to mention the fact that something can potentially go horribly wrong when trying to upgrade the RAM, although for users like you and me this is not an issue

Which brand of 8GB module is good for this laptop ? I just want to expand it to 16GB on budget.

Crucial RAM 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz CL22 Laptop Memory CT8G4SFRA32A https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C4Z6...KZ0FAE5ES9

Is this one good ?
Thank you
Should be fine. It's probably all about the same. Technically, it might be better to wait until you get the laptop and see what the specs are on the ram module it comes with. But honestly, what are you going to buy anyway? Most these 3200 modules are the same CL22 spec. I've mixed and matched ram in desktops fine, even ones of completely different rated speeds (even different voltage ratings, lol). I doubt you will have any problems. It will just adjust to the speed of the slower module.

Correct me if I'm wrong, this does appear to have an ethernet port, per the photos, but of course the BB description does not mention it
I looked and I cannot find an ethernet port on it either :/

From Asus's User Manual [asus.com] for FX706HC's doc section [asus.com], p24 shows a Ethernet port.

Confirmed. It's also clearly visible in a product picture.

48Wh battery, these TUF gaming laptop has horrible battery life with the 48Wh, My spec is with a Ryzen 7, 16gb dual channel, 256gb ssd, and 1660ti. I don't play games I use it to 3d design on sketch up, fusion, etc and 3d print or make plans. sometimes I'll use it for word processing to type up papers. After a year of mostly keeping the battery charge to a healthy state (60%) and rarely getting below 30% I am getting less than 2 hours of usage on power saving mode working on Microsoft words with wifi connected and using a usb wireless mouse.

Just a warning if you plan to use it as a laptop and unplug, say a college student that need to bring it to lecture to take notes or starbucks to study, etc.
