You have no clue what you're talking about. You aren't a snob given your comments. You've said a lot of things but none are relevant to why this machine is far superior to a cheap one. The most expensive Krups coffee maker isn't SCAA certified and I doubt you owned the Braun one that is.

Cheap coffee makers do not get as hot as this. They do not have remotely close to the same shower head. They do not brew nearly as fast. The SCAA has explicit requirements for brew time to certify coffee makers. The cheap ones don't do it.

I doubt the beans you're using are quality, but to make such ignorant comments is laughable.

To people who care: quality for this is on par with Bonavita but the machine is better made and more durable. Great if you need to make a large pot that will produce a quality cup for multiple people.

I had the Bonavita 5 cup version that was great for years but finally replaced it with this one. The Bonavita had plastic parts that broke during cleaning. I prefer this Oxo but both were great for an auto drip coffee maker. I like the cleaning mode of this maker. My only complaint with the Oxo is the stand under the dripper. You can have it flat to fit the pot or flip it to give you 3/4" for a tall mug. Anything shorter than a tall mug leaves too much room and you get some splashing from drips. I found this 3d print and it fits perfectly in the base, just adjust the height to fit your mugs.

Specifically a few things.
1) the rainfall showerhead keeps water streaming evenly over all the beans.

2) Precision heating elements make the water exit at very specifically controlled temperature.

3) General design allows the water to steep for a very specifically controlled time.

Not to mention a 4) preprogrammed ability to "bloom" of the grounds and wetting of the filter.

This yields for more even extraction of coffee from the beans at their expected "sweet spot."

Of course you could try to dial it in even more which is what the clover machines were doing.

It can be a night and day difference with regular beans and not just for coffee snobs. It's like stepping up from the $6-$8 bottle of wine to the $15-$30 bottles.

You really don't know until you've tried it.

Some people can't tell or don't care for the difference between $6 wine and $30. To those people, keep calm and carry on!

I used to use the Bonavita 5 cup in my single days for many years and enjoyed it a lot; it really does make a good cup and less is sometime's more in terms of simplicity to use! However, I did not like the open carafe while brewing, that would be my only complaint. I've been using the Breville Precision Brewer now for a couple years (got it for a lot cheaper than the $300 asking price today), and I also thought it made an almost as good cup, but has the increased capacity for my new married life - however it is BIG and the carafe has ceased to keep coffee warm after two years of use.. and you cannot buy a replacement anywhere.. frustrating!

This one I cannot speak to personally as I haven't used it yet, but I'm excited about a slightly smaller coffee maker than the Breville, a higher than 5 cup capacity of my old Bonavita, and I have read good things about it in reviews. Also the single cup option appears easy and will be used often in my house

In my option (again, having not used this one yet), I would say keep the Bonavita to save a few bucks if you don't mind the open carafe while brewing design, and a slightly reduced capacity pot. They will both likely give an equally tasty brew.

I also love my 5 cup Bonavita. My wife and I each drink a cup per day. I don't find them durable at all and they need replacing evey 3 years even when descaled but for $48-55 on Amazon warehouse, not a bad deal.

The wide opening on the carafe is huge plus for cleaning. Many of the double walled steel carafes have a narrow opening, making it a huge pain for cleaning. I'm have no experience with this machine in terms coffee brewing, but the Oxo products I've used have been durable and worked well.

What is the difference between this $140 coffee maker and $20 coffee maker, except the metal carafe?

Has a built in blooming cycle, brews at the SCA gold cup certified temperature and time for proper extraction. I don't know what $20 coffee maker you're referring to, but the single cup pour over option and higher quality components also. I don't think I've ever had good coffee out of a $20 brewer, I love coffee and don't cover up the flavor with other flavors or creamers.

Treasuretruck from what I know is just another deal on random stuff Amazon picks. They send you a text with a link and you just click on it which takes to their treasuretruck section with the deal of the day.

Been waiting for a good deal on an SCA brewer that isn't a Bonavita. Picked this up @ Amazon, 10% back if you use an Amazon store card!

Better taste, if your beans and grind are good quality too. If you're just brewing $5 bags of preground starbucks beans stick with the $20 brewer. If you're brewing beans that have a roast date and description of their origin, roasting process, etc. then it's worth investing in better equipment to get the most flavor from them.
