Edit: found an Amazon review that compares the two:
"I used this vacuum for a couple weeks after upgrading from the S5 Max. I have tried many different brands and feel strongly that Roborocks are the best. Unfortunately for the S7, There are some serious flaws over its predecessors. Roborock made the dust bin MUCH smaller and MUCH harder to clean! It looks like it is about half the side of its predecessors. It fills up very quickly. When it gets half full, the vacuum loses massive suction and fails to pickup pet hair from carpets. The S5 Max, with the dust bin full would always pickup the hair and keep on going! Worse, it is impossible to empty the S7 dust bin without sticking your fingers into the debris to fish it out. With previous models, you open the door on the bin and tap it lightly on your trash can. All the dust and hair came out easily. No go with the S7. No matter how much you tap (bang) the dust bin, the hair and debris stays in there until you fish it out with your fingers. This is a complete deal breaker in my opinion. The other major issue is the mop. It is no better, and maybe worse than the S5 Max. Again the water tank is smaller and even with the fancy jiggle the mop does, it didn't seem to do as well as my S5 Max. I ended up returning the S7 and will be sticking with my S5."

1. You HAVE to use their bags or the machine will not auto dump.
2. It doesn't clean everything out of the robot sometimes so you have to manually dump sometimes..
I have the s5max and love it and I only have to dump like once every week and a half I'm thinking about canceling the auto dump now.
