Those averages for height and weight aren't anecdotal. So as a business why would you put more expense into a mass produced product for a small percentage of the possible target market when you can save a good amount of money and have a far larger target audience that it still remains usable for?
This is not shot at you or anyone's weight btw - I am merely addressing what in text looks like a flippant comment about people's weights and sizes that is not supported by fact but by anecdotal data.
A ladder isn't just going to collapse at 226lbs. you can probably safely get 275lbs on this, but i would not jump up and down, like some sort of clown

I found this from a quick google search. To your point, this product with a 225lb limit, seems to meet the needs of women up to the ~90th percentile and men up to the ~80th percentile.
