Why not just buy this and trade in to Best Buy for the 13 mini? Upgrading from 12 to 13 costs about $80 (assuming you're not in CA where the tax is much higher) so you're looking at paying under $400 for a new iPhone 13. You could even upgrade to a higher end 13 for a few more $. The BBY deal is probably one of the best ones this year if you have an iPhone 12:

Edit: best buy doesn't care if the phone is locked.

I have Total Wireless, and plan to keep the device for 12 months anyway. Note that the referral program is generous, and you can essentially go the first 5 months for a total cost of $50 for the service using the referral codes ($25 each of the first 2 months, and the next 3 come free with the code ... this if you don't use much data, or 4 months if using more data) (you can add as you need) ... and it's Verizon towers ...

What I mean is that the phone will arrive on the 30th of Nov from Wal-Mart. If I buy from Best Buy, will they hold the phone I purchase at BB until the 30th for trade-in?
Let's say you have a ship date of Dec 11. But if it will show up today in stock and ready for you, then you have 5-6 days to pick it up or otherwise your order will be cancelled. So timing matters, you want to have 12 mini on hand and pray that BB will not come up with stock earlier.

Can you activate with any carrier? Or only total wireless sim will work on this phone?

How are you guys placing an order for this if the store has no stock?

It won't let me do it because our local Best Buys don't have any 13 Mini's in stock in the store right now.

You can't if there is trade involved. Otherwise, find a store with inventory

When you go to select the Carrier in the dropdown menu on the Best Buy device trade-in page, it doesn't list Total Wireless, only the major carriers (T-Mo, Sprint, A&T, Verizon, Unlocked). Do we just select Verizon, and will Best Buy flag these phones as ineligible?

Bummer

I wonder how often they are getting more right now.

Maybe worth it to buy the 12 Mini and see if BB gets any 13 Mini's in stock over weeks ahead to do the trade-in?

Rsim is the Sim that unlocks iphone. It cost about $5-10. There are few simple steps to follow to update the ICCID of rsim on the actual day you want to unlock the phone. Those iccid codes changes every day

That's one way. If something changes on Best Buy side ( less trade credit ), return the phone and move on like nothing happened. I have a bunch of stores near by. I would keep checking in other stores instead of hoping ( assuming you don't mind driving a bit to save some $$$ )

Rsim is awesome. I bought mine 3 years ago. Still works with any iPhone or iOS version I have tried. It's basically plug&play. You pop it in and forget it's in there. Even after reboots and software updates it works.

I don't mind carrier lock, so I plan to purchase this Straight Talk iPhone, go into ATT, use it as a trade in, currently 1000 trade in value, and use it toward an iPhone 13 Pro 1 TB. I'm going to be prorated for the next 3 years but I'll pay the difference up front and not have to worry about paying the difference monthly. Yes I'm locked to ATT, but I don't plan to move carriers or need it to be unlocked. Not sure if this may help anyone or if anyone see any holes in this.

Good plan, no holes. Don't snooze too long thinking the stock will last forever. It's a pretty good plan if you don't mind sticking with AT&T as I did with TM for a decade now. Good luck!
