From what I can tell it looks like Bed Bath & Beyond put it on sale, so Amazon and Walmart are pricematching it.

Same here and the one I got had the thermal carafe and the pourover attachment also (which is supposed;y a SeattleCoffeeGear exclusive).

I think this is an SCA approved coffee maker which makes it a golden cup coffee maker. They are typically more expensive. I think the cheapest SCA approved coffee maker is the OXO 8 cup at $120 on sale right now but usually $150 or higher I believe.

Mostly the ability to brew near 200 degrees. That is 'essential' for extracting certain flavors
