Compared to the $1600 HP Omen 30L with 5600x and 3080, the Lenovo is a much more loaded system, and widely considered the best build quality, cooling and thermal among major OEM's. When you browse the reviews or Youtube for that matter, you just don't find any complaints in this area.

The same popular Youtuber that trashed Alienware liked the build quality and cooling, all of his complaints were on the value of components which Lenovo is usually the worst of all major OEM's on, like $1500 for a GTX 1660 desktop on sale at the same time . . . This specific configuration however, is competitive vs every major OEM in value, even the Omen 30L.
The extra 32 GB memory and generous SSD makes it a much better system out-of-box. The CPU is also stronger than 5600x at the cost of more power, although 11700 is much much better than 11700K in that area. Whether all this benefit is worth 20% more GPU processing power is of course, subjective. I personally use a Lenovo Y900 with 6600K and GTX 1070 and four years, it is still going strong and zero problems. I am seriously considering this one but will wait for Black Friday to see what else comes up.
I was thinking about waiting for XPS 8950, Alienware R13/R14 and Omen 40L just for better cooling and thermal. May pull the trigger on this one. Previous deal on this hit front page Slickdeals.

Not that most would go through the work for downgrading gpu but just showing where the value is in the hp deal. I'd just keep the 3080. This is slickdeals so I wouldnt put gpu selling and rebuying past anyone to save $300+
The misc stuff is cheap to buy separate. Like 32gb ram and 1tb nvme can be had for $100 and $80 respectively plus selling what came with it.
The 5800x/3070 Omen would be most comparable and as much as $117 cheaper, and does have addition m.2 slot you could expand storage with. But even with decent deals on after market upgrades you'd have to spend at least $180-$200 to match the specs of this build, and I've also heard good things about the quality of the Lenovo builds compared to some of the other OEM prebuilts like Dell and HP.
Best thing about the HP configuration deals is the amount of options for different needs and budgets, but a lot of the draw is just getting the highest card for the lowest price. But for a complete system at this price point this is probably the best deal so far. I still haven't made up my mind on anything either but if I went with 3070 I'd definitely take this one over any of the Omen 3070 configurations.

"Ships FREE by Mon, Nov 29"
Most of the HPs are mid December and some I think even January. And some people have said that they're still waiting on the 5600x/3080 builds to ship from when they went up for $1637 a month or so ago. Unless Lenovo's free standard shipping is more than 3 weeks, you should be able to get these in plenty of time for Christmas if you're gift buying.

Edit: ordered another one with the BF daily deals coupon which was an extra 150 off total, cancelling my other order. They have price protection but this is much easier for those that already ordered. This is by far the better deal than the 3080 HP imo

14 pages? Lenovo messed up. That is a lot comments since August.
Looks resolved now, and largely around audio driver conflicts. There's a solution there, Most of the later complaints are around how Lenovo casually treated their complaints.

So many prebuilts use awful proprietary components that will be nearly impossible to find replacement parts for.
I have such a hard time believing it's cheaper for OEMs to develop an entire line of custom motherboards, cases and PSUs than to just place huge orders for standardized components….

Got to got to see how long it take HP to deliver that 3080 to you though. Lenovo is pretty fast most of the time. HP well if they get it to you in Jan 2022, you may see Intel ARC Alchemist and Nvidia 3070/3080/3090 SUPER cards out by then.
Also HP Omen case is terrible. Bad airflow, tiny, cramped, sometimes shipped with cracked glass, motherboard is custom garbage, card if you get a 3080/3090 you will definitely need to repad and rejigger so memory actually touches its heatsink thereby voiding your warranty. HP service is horrible.
Like the other guy said you are probably better off getting this Lenovo and buying a 3080/3090 or waiting for the new cards coming out in January.

You won't get double cash back, but 12% is still pretty solid
