Looks like the newer version GL.iNet GL-MT1300 also onsale for $89.9 - 25% coupon = $67.42

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MKZXGBY

For those need a faster connection and prefer USB-C power/512GB Max MicroSD/etc instead of MicroUSB power/128GB Max MicroSD/etc.
GL.iNet GL-MT1300 (Beryl) VPN Secure Travel Gigabit Wireless Router, AC1300 400Mbps (2.4GHz) + 867Mbps (5GHz) Wi-Fi, Pocket-Sized Hotspot, IPv6, Tor, MicroSD Slot, USB3.0 for Wi-Fi Repeater
Not the recent lowest price but pretty close.

I can confirm this works. Great for bypassing Visible network's 5mbps cap on tethering.

This is not so useful in my opinion, no built-in 4G/5G modem, just adding an additional layer of firewall protection when I am surfing with public Wi-Fi? I would like to use firewall software installed on my laptop and keep using my Netgear MR5100 with cellular data plan.

This isn't meant for protection. It's meant for convenience.

You could configure a regular router to do what this does. Probably not great to carry around with you, but just a suggestion if you're looking to use a router you already have or want something more powerful.

I found out the hard way this router will NOT connect to EAP network. DO NOT BUY if you plan on hooking up to a work/enterprise network that requires a login/password combination.

How are both their actual performances?

Can I use this to make my cell phone become a home internet?
Yes. If you have a hotspot plan on your cell phone.

If you can turn on USB hotspot on your cell phone and can get that working when connected to a PC, then it should work when plugged into this router too.

- OR -

You can connect this router to your cell phone's WIFI hotspot too. This will be a little slower.

I've got Visible with unlimited hotspot which is limited to 1 connection, but I have been able to connect multiple machines through the above methods.

Has the quality on these improved? I bought 3 different ones of this brand over the years and one arrived bricked right from the factory, but I could revive it by reflashing the firmware. But they all were underpowered, like it would take forever to even just load the built in web interface. When it finally did work, I tried to use it in a Hotel and while I got it connected to the wifi, it was incredibly slow no matter where I placed it. I couldn't even stream YouTube over it properly, which worked just fine when I connected the phone directly to the hotels WiFi. Similar problem at 3 different hotels. They're all paperweights now and I keep using my super old HoToo travel router. But I'd eventually like to use Wireguard/OpenVPN, but if these can't even handle mere replication of the WiFi without adequate throughput.

Uh, the whole point of these is to pair it with Easytether and you can use your phone data instead of hotspot data, resulting in unlimited internet for the home (in most cases). Using regular hotspot with this isn't the plan.

Well I have unlimited hotspot so that's not an issue for me and he didn't say anything about Easytether so how do you know that that is an issue for him?

I did say IF you have a hotspot plan too...

"in most cases"

I'm happy for you that you have unlimited hotspot. Most people don't, but have unlimited data.

Me too! as it is limited speed and I would love to find a workaround for that myself.

I'm guessing if you root your phone, then your phone's hotspot wouldn't have the limitations is the only way around it.

Tempted, not sure I can justify it right now though... It looks if you have a raspberry PI though, you could make your own travel router... Maybe I'll do that instead

If needed a vpn router, go with tm-ac1900 then convert to a VPN router (or a regular router for node/primary in aimesh, when not needed). Cheap and better spec. (But bigger than this)
