Wow, what a deal!

I've been hemming and hawing whether to get the Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus, the Lenovo 10e or the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite 4gb version.

The only thing that originally stopped me with the Lenovo 10e was the terribly bad speakers. But at this price point, I'll deal with it. I have plenty of other devices around the house (including other PCs, tablets, phones and bluetooth speakers) if I wish to play something at a loud volume.

Here is my brief analysis should this help anyone in the same boat.

* The Galaxy Tab A7 Lite is 8.4" and arguably is easier to handle than the 10" Fire HD 10 and Lenovo 10e. But the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite uses a crappy 1340x800 resolution with poor viewing angles. Buyer beware that the A7 Lite does have a 3GB RAM variant as well.

* Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus (the 4GB RAM variant) was really, really tempting especially considering one can use Fire Toolbox to remove the ads & bloatware, sideload Google Play Store, and sideload a custom launcher.

* BUT Kindle Fire HD 10 Plus uses Android 9 as the underlying OS (already out of date considering Android 12 just came out). Not to mention Amazon is releasing a new (currently optional) OS update to version 7.3.3.2 that prevents Fire Toolbox from being able to do its thing. Not sure how I feel about being forever stuck on a previous version of an already outdated OS.

* I've read that the Lenovo 10e's ChromeOS is a bit hit-or-miss compared to Android (especially with app compatibility) but we shall see. I don't really do much on my current tablets besides catching up on news, perusing Reddit & Slickdeals and occasionally watching a show or TV on it.

As much as a good deal it is, id rather go with the Amazon Fire HD Plus, just based on the added storage option, especially with the firebox tool to 'unlock' it.

ok my pricematch was rejected (requested through chat). They said i already had one requested ($119 to $99 and they couldn't do another). Are returns completely free like amazon or would they charge later?

I have the Fire and the Duet, which is better than this. I think the fire will be better for media consumption - watching videos will be better because of the nice speakers.

The 10e is only good if you plan to get a keyboard as chrome is really meant to be used with a keyboard like a computer. The speakers on this are supposedly pretty horrible so that would make it a terrible media consumption device.

I would pick the fire over this overall, but I would pick my Duet (far more expensive) over the fire.

TLDR - the fite 10 is better than this.

$20 credit for future purchase or $20 off your tablet purchase?
Refund, not credit..
The wording from the rep was "That refund will be process in 7-10 business days,
An email will be sent once the refund completely process, includes the refund invoice."

How's this compare -- overall, all things considered -- to the Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus tablet?
HD 8 Plus is an awesome smaller tablet for media consumption. This is a bigger 10" so there is a big difference in size. I prefer the 8" for on the go use.

Well, for a tab I gave my thoughts at post 197. Fire 10 runs just fine with 3GB, on Android 3 gb vs 4 gb seems to mean you can't run as many backgrounds apps on hold. You can hack the Fire 10 to be a full Android Tab with Play Store--currently--with Firebox. Amazon is going to push an update that makes Firebox not work. If you get Fire 10 now Firebox will let you stop pushed updates so you are good to go. If you wait until Xmas and go through the routines to load all updates, maybe not.

Fire 10 might have a better screen and speakers than 10e. Fire 10 has a fused screen which makes it much nicer to view than the prior Fire 10 version, and pretty good speakers for media. I can't tell if 10e has a fused screen, and limited reviews say the speakers are bad.

For me, I like to install APKs of my choosing that might not be in Playstore, either old versions or apps that are not there at all. I am not aware that Chromebooks can install APKs.

But if you need or want a Chromebook, getting this with the 30 dollar keyboard gives you a good small touchscreen laptop.

I agonized about this vs the fire 10 more than I care to admit and finally pulled the trigger with the slide gift card promo. May get the 10 too and return the one I like less. Seems like pretty even devices

I have an older fire 10 tablet 7th gen, which I used firebox on to install google apps and get rid of all of the amazon crap and launcher. It is still a crappy experience and some how after some months of not using it, the custom launcher (Nova Launcher) wont even load anymore. I am not even motivated to try and fix it at this point. I would never buy another fire tablet -- there is just way too much bloatware.

I used to have an old chromebook Acer c720 that was a great experience just to use a light device for basic web browsing. Thinking about picking up one of these lenovo tablets.

Those if you who ordered at a higher price and called for price protection at $79 - When you say that they price matched, did you actually get the refund, or did they just submit a request for a refund for you, which still has to be processed? How do you know that the request will be honored

I was told I would be refunded in 7 to 10 days. I paid by credit card, so it is typical for credit card refunds not to appear immediately on the card account, but require several days due to the way credits are processed by the card companies. I have kept a copy of the Lenovo Chat transcript and screen shots of the Ebay posting for future followup in case the request is not honored, but, just as I expect Lenovo to ship the item I ordered, I expect them to honor their price guarantee and issue the refund credit. There are remedies available if they do not follow up on their commitments, such as issuing a charge back on the credit card and no longer doing business with them in the future.

The wording of their Holiday Price guarantee is "You don't have to worry about timing your purchase just right to get the best price. If the price drops on your product this Holiday season, we'll refund the difference." https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/shop...q/#returns

I do not see any wording on the price guarantee limiting the number of price adjustments allowed or limits on where the item was purchased. But clearly the Lenovo Ebay store is a direct outlet of Lenovo and managed by Lenovo.

We have 3 Fire HDs (2019) and 2 Duets. I will chose the Duet every time. Its not even close when it comes to functionality. Duet is a full fledged OS and has a better screen. Fire tablet is more kids and Duet can be used for work and school.

Yup that's what I said, but I would choose the fire over this 10e because of bad speakers and need to have keyboard to take full advantage of Chrome OS.

I am sure they will come up with a reason to not Pricematch ebay but only to their website and the price on ebay would have gone up. So i took the decision to return the one ordered from lenovo.com. Hopefully its free returns all the way.

Does anyone have experience with sideloading an Android PDF/epub reader on this? I have the 2017 Fire 10 that I use LineageOS on, but it cannot handle multitasking very well due to limited RAM. It's adequate for reading PDFs and excellent for reading epubs. However, I just would like to be able to multitask better: PDF reader for textbooks in the background (textbooks PDFs can be large in hundreds of megabytes), light browsing, and note taking with Google Docs or MS Office for Android or Collabora for Android.

The MT8183 IS the helio p60t. Same core arrangement and speeds.

It is NOT a 4 core, 1MB cpu. It is an 8 core, 4 x a73 core, 4 x a53, cache varying depending on the core.

So your concern is not warranted, its an excellent performing chip equal to a midrange snapdragon, and it'll be a fine performer for many years.
Exactly! Duet and and 10e are identical hardware wise. I expect the same performance as my Duet. This is an excellent deal. It seems like the same questions keeps on getting asked about the 10e. Just read the reviews on the Duet because it should be the same.
