Great deal tbh, probably the best deal with a 5500U, compared to the other i3/i5 and even i7 deals, 5500U almost always comes out on top.
2 RAM slots, replaceable NVME and WiFi card, FHD IPS screen
only downside is the not so great battery size and probably not so great build quality.

but for sub-400, this is a no-brainer and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it, especially if you take the 2x8GB 3200 RAM upgrade.

just wish other retails can price match on specific builds.

Ryzen 7 5700U is an option for an additional $90, didn't check the benchmarks to compare, but the Ryzen 5 5500U is probably fine for most people...

That's the name of the integrated graphics chip on this APU, It's not trying to mislead anyone.

I just bought the $430 Lenovo i5 and also considering this. For $50 difference, I'll probably keep Lenovo for touch, 12gb, wifi 6, finger scanner and better keyboard. However, I agree 5500u is better than i5.
Do you have a link to the bestbuy lenovo i5? Im liking the sound of it

Got it with the touchscreen and backlit kb for $401, which I think is a pretty good price. Chassis looks very similar to the target deal for $238. Hoping it has a better trackpad.
I'm getting $432 with 1080p touchscreen and backlit kb. How are people getting lower? Did people skip upgrading the hard drive to get lower price?

I got this HP Laptop deal from Target and was going to install 16GB and a 1TB NVMe for a total of $400. Is it worth switching to this deal?

Yes. Worth it for the much much better CPU, which in turn boosting graphic processing power. Integrated graphic would utilize RAM, and CPU power. Since you plan to invest money into RAM, you want to have better CPU and better integrated GPU which Ryzen CPU is.

Made the move. Returning the Target deal below and getting this in Rose Gold, 1080P non-touch, 16GB RAM, got the cheap 128GB SSD because I'm upgrading to 1TB for $80 myself. In total $438.77 on HP + $80 1TB RAM (listed below as well) = $518.77

Target Deal

Spoke with chat - got another $25 off.

Total was $375

Modifications I made were

Silver (-10)

Backlit KB (+30)

256gb HD (+20)

IPS 1080P non touchscreen (+10)

Would note I never use touchscreens on laptops so that wasn't a concern for me and regular screen is anti-glare.

Also bought the Target $280 for wife and was going to get the Walmart MSI for myself but they canceled the order (very frustrating). Was thinking about taking ram out from here and installing that and a 1tb nvme in wife laptop (where the slot is open), and installing more ram in this one and keeping the 256. I just wanted the MSI cause of build quality but hopefully this holds up. Deciding how much ram to add to both laptops, definitely a minimum of 16gb to both but debating 32 for this. Thanks for the nvme link above poster!

Does anyone know how ryzen and videocard work with ram? Does more ram help the video card?

Spoke to chat and they created the order link. I said I wanted to order something but the $20 account creation newsletter coupon email hadn't come yet which was true. Probably took longer but they got it done.

nice configuration and I would jump on this deal if I could get it in black with the backlit KB but there's no backlit option for the black color. Looking for a laptop that ticks a lot of specific boxes for my hard-of-sight father, and the silver color with silver keys won't provide enough contrast

Pulled the plug, thanks OP.
Upgraded to touchscreen 1920x1080, 16gb RAM, 256gb SSD for 449$ + taxes. Better than the Walmart HP 499$ laptop which would give me only 8gb RAM, i5 processor,512gb SSD. External memory is cheap so I'm ok with 256gb SSD. But I did want higher RAM and didn't want to spend over 500$. This is almost perfect for my needs and 449$.

Can't speak for others, but yes: I did not upgrade the SSD. For my purposes 128GB is more than enough.

I just did the exact same. Thanks for posting that info, glad to be done with this item purchase!

FYI, I was told the price could NOT fall below $369. So I got an option upgrade I was considering, then he was able to apply a coupon code to it.

What were the specs you went with? Going to try to replicate. I still have the Target i3 deal unopened, was thinking about grabbing the 4GB Ram stick for $20 from Amazon, but might be better off with this deal.

My work laptop has a backlit keyboard (it's a dell) and I think it may be the most useless thing. I am not sure why people want it. Maybe on the silver where the key names lit up, but on a black keyboard with white lettering.. useless.
