What's in the box:
Apple MacBook Pro 14" with Liquid Retina XDR Display
Yeah this is the Fall 2021 latest M1 Pro ARM processor which includes a better display and the removal of the touchbar. It'll be tough to find a decent discount and even the Apple store is likely on back order too. Most places (Costco) offer a 2% discount.
The MacRumors forums are riddles with owners complaining of Ghosting or text trailing when scrolling it was so bad I had to return mine when scrolling text would smear.

Not all of us want our personal data on cloud or carry external drives besides a laptop
It's also fun having to pay the cloud provider for storage that you could store for free. I feel like they skimp on storage, to force people to depend on cloud storage.

I bought one of these and it's fantastic. I've owned many models of MacBook Airs and Pros over the years and this one is the best by far. The screen is amazing, the keyboard is a massive improvement, I'm very happy with 512/16 GB, and it's faster than any other laptop in the world, except for a faster version of this one. And Apple's trackpad is far better than anything I've ever used on a Windows laptop.
The connectivity is fantastic: Three 40 Gbps USBC/Thunderbolt ports. Any can be used for power. PLUS a MagSafe power port PLUS HDMI.
I'm looking for an M1 air what's a good deal for one?
I just bought an M1 Air 16GB 1TB refurb from Apple and was $1509 after tax and shipping, but that was also with a $25 gift card and factoring in the 3% I'll get back for using the Apple Card.
I'm pretty pleased with the purchase, personally. All the storage I need (and more, honestly) in a laptop - I have a NAS for long term storage.
I don't have my hands on it yet, but from what I've read, it will be great for learning Logic Pro or Ableton and for doing all the other random stuff I do (Minikube for Kubernetes learning and testing, VS Code, Python development, other DevOps tasks and tools)

Watch the reviews and benchmarks, the 16GB does a lot.
