Using the provided settings I got a lot of disconnects, so I had to change what they sugest putting in the custom configuration section of the settings.
If you want to avoid disconnects with this VPN on a router, use these settings in your custom configuration:
auth-nocache
nobind
persist-tun
persist-key
remote-random
remote-cert-tls server
route-metric 1
auth sha512
keysize 256
#mssfix 1430
reneg-sec 14400
resolv-retry infinite
keepalive 30 120
tun-mtu 1500
All the rest of their settings are fine.
It's not super fast, and they only have 3 or 4 torrent supporting servers. But it works.
Lifetime for $13 is ok in my book.

I bought Windscribe's lifetime plan, which is slow as hell especially for Japan. Anybody can comment on Surfshark in terms of speed? I am considering getting another VPN with decent speed for foreign servers.
I'm just wrapping up my 3yr subscription with SS and hafta say they had decent speeds... I paid $56 for the 3 years so I'm not keen on spending that for 2yr 3mos. They still do a decent job for steaming but I don't do that a whole lot so hoping I won't miss it when I head to torguard which I just tested with similar speeds and a way better BF deal.

It's leaked a few times on me. Mostly because the kill switch inhibits LAN connectivity, so I don't use it. The default VPN protocol (IKEv2 I think) causes CPU to spike pretty high, and then the VPN loses its connection and...voila you're exposed.
I was able to bring the CPU utilization down by forcing it to use the Wireguard protocol, which is much better. I also switched qbittorrent to force it to *only* use the Wireguard connection, so no packets can escape to my "normal" connection.
After all that I think it's a pretty okay VPN. Speeds aren't great compared to Windscribe, but for $13, lifetime, I'm willing to go a little slower.
I think I'm gonna try the FastestVPN deal just to give myself options.

Edit: got it set up and $13 for changing my IP is good enough for me. Speeds are my normal speeds. I'm not concerned about anything else as I know how to use my computer for what I need without a vpn this is just a nice backup configuration for private browsing

They don't encrypt, but they'll change your IP - which is the important part when torrenting, considering torrenting itself isn't illegal.
