It's not incredibly accurate with the colors displayed on screen but it's close enough to give good ambient lighting and add a bit to the immersion level compared to a single color rgb strip.
I was lucky enough to snag it when it was $35 a year ago but since then I bought another set for a second display at around $65.
I bought two more now at this price to give as gifts.

There are also calibration videos on YouTube so you don't need to put the orange foam on your TV. There are hacks using a different lens on the camera to not have to have it on the TV as well.
Great product. Although, mine does have flickering issues but it doesn't bother me
The Philip Hue Disadvantageous (That Fanboys Ignore)
Option 1: Software VS Camera
1.) Hue software lowers game performance
2.) Hue software caused jutter
Option 2: HDMI
1.) HDMI 2.0 lacks the bandwidth needed to max out my monitor. Device is used on TV.
2.) Super Expensive Addon
The issues above were gamebreakers... I ended up setting them to a standard color.
Here is my opinion on the Govee Light Bar:
- Not as Bright On Stand
+ Better when mounted near the top corners of the screen
- Not as accurate color wise as Philips HDMI option
+ Better than the software option when properly calibrated
+ Both Bars can have a different color (Hue Software only had One Color before I gave up)
- Not as many color options
That's my first impressions.

these are to thick and ugly
I know you got downvoted but I have always wondered why we never saw Ambilight become more popular with other brands as well. Feel like Philips was way ahead of its time anyway. Isn't it like 15 years ago or something silly since they first introduced it?
these are to thick and ugly
I don't think you're supposed to see them if you set it up for ambient light they would be behind the TV 🤷 ♂️
Back in stock
so I decided to put a translucent scotch tape over the lens to reduce potential privacy/security issue It still works fairly well
how thick are the light bars?
