When I did my cost-benefit analysis on a chair, I considered how much time I'd spend in it. If you work from home and spend 6-10hrs/day sitting in it, spending 2-3X on a comfortable chair is going to be far more worthwhile than most other ways you could spend that money. Me, I like to work almost entirely from my couch, so I skimped on the chair and spent a little extra for a reclining sofa. 😎
I use the Leap at work and loved it so much I convinced my manager to purchase me one for home (as I am doing hybrid work). It's so understated, but the most fantastic feeling chair ever and supports your back well.
Also noticed this: https://store.steelcase.com/Store/seating/office-chairs/black-friday-gesture?viewState=DetailView&ca... [steelcase.com]

I was going to pull the trigger if the Amex $150 was still active, but it's not. How much better might a deal get? I don't know if I can stomach dropping this much on a chair!

just a tip -- the headrest model is way more sought after because they're rare. if you're buying new you should just get a headrest model. otherwise you can find a clean used one for half the price

All "Sold by Amazon.com" products have same return policy?
I believe most everything is covered by the return policy. Even stuff not sold by Amazon but fulfilled by Amazon, and stuff the sellers fulfill themselves. Amazon don't play around.

I just purchased the gesture with headrest from the same listing for the original price a couple weeks ago. I've contacted amazon, and they refuse to do a price adjustment even though my item is well within its return period.

While this item can be returned through January, there appears to be a $75 return fee. This means I would only save about $100 by going through the effort of the return process and repurchasing at the lower price. I haven't decided if I feel like doing that yet.

As far as the chair goes, it's decent but haven't decided yet if it's my forever char. I have the Leap at work (without headrest), and had never tried the gesture before purchasing it. I'm 6'2 and a skinny build. I find that the headrest doesn't seem to be in a great position to be used ever, and is pretty flimsy. I can put my head back on it, but not while I'm looking at my computer screen typically. I also find that the seat pan is at least 3 inches too short, even extended as far as it will go.
Where do you see the $75 return fee?

how does the leap and gesture compare then? I'm trying to figure out between these and the Aeron and having a hard time... nothing seems quite good enough since my behind still suffers. gesture is better for back support, but aeron has the best of all three.

TIA for any recommendations!
Check out the /officechairs subreddit. Lots of people on there compare the two chairs. I've been trying to figure out which is better for me too.

While I do not know about Gesture, I have been using a Leap V2 chair since 2013. I have the leather version with lumbar support, adjustable arm rests but no head support. I am short and heavy ( 220 lbs) and work mostly from home and use it for 5-8 hours every work day. The chair has been very comfortable and hasn't given me any problem so far. Extremely happy with it. You can not go wrong with this.

I purchased from this exact listing, and went to initiate a return. Amazon showed a $75 charge coming out of the return value for shipping.

There's a guy locally who is selling older Steelcase chairs for $99. He used to have a big office and must have a ton. I talked my son to buy one of these for his computer desk instead of one of those fancy computer show off chairs. He even admits now that it was a good choice. That thing is rock solid and I don't doubt he will have it for many more years and he spends a lot of time in it. I'm not sure I would drop a grand on one though.

Not to detract from this deal on a new one, but used office furniture stores sell nice used Steelcase for much less. I'm talking in the $100-$300 range.

The chairs are very nice.

Does anybody know how the gesture compares to my Herman Miller Aeron? I'm looking for a quality chair but with a headrest.

Hey, sorry if this is inappropriate but after a frenzy of research in 2016 I settled on the leap v2 with the 4-d arms (crucial). Couldnt afford to pay anywhere near retail. Found that craiglist is an active mktplace for these kind of office equipment, usually through purchased in bulk from business closures, liquidations, etc.

Got a hold of a guy selling one in good condition for 300. Met up with him at a storage place. He shows me his box filled with the good shit, aerons, leaps, gestures, etc. Friendly chat, let me walk away with a very good condition leap v2 for 225.

5.5 years later. still rides like fresh. I love it. Cannot imagine another chair to hit all the points. Mind you, I'm short - 5'10 and it gets low enough for me to not dangle.

Hope this helps

The arms are pretty weird. I'm not sure if mine was broken or if I'm just an idiot, but they were always sliding around and lefty at angles and felt/looked stupid. I've sat in this chair for almost 2 years, and while I found it pretty comfortable, definitely couldn't sit still a full 8 hours per day. In combination with a standing desk it was suitable, but would prefer something else probably.
Hahaha I worked at a company where some of the older employees had steelcase leaps that they bought used before the company grew. When we moved to a new location we all got new(er) herman miller sayl chairs and the old leaps were used in one of our lab rooms. I spent enough time in them to agree that yes, those arms are SO GOOFY! They always were moving around and stuff! I don't remember the seat bottoming out, and I'm sure those chairs were damn old.

The Sayl chair had a very comfy seat but the back was too short. At home, I bought an Embody chair for christmas a couple of years ago. That farker cost $1400 and I admit, I kinda regret it. The back is too short. It's like HM designs their chairs for people no larger than 5'10 and doesn't give a shit. It works! As a daily work chair, it's fine.

Honestly, the embody replaced a gaming chair (dxracer king) that I still use for random lounging around at another table. I think I'm going to buy another gaming chair for that purpose haha.

Since your posture is good, you might have good luck with an embody. The logitech model has more padding! I dunno. It's really farking expensive though. My posture is goofy, and the embody tries to force good posture, which makes me sore and antsy after a while. Plus I think it was made for somebody with no butt.

Talk to customer service about that and tell them there is no mention of a return fee on the product page and you want to return it per their holiday return policy.

See if there is a drop off location near you, like Kohl's, those are typically free. They will now usually charge return shipping unless it's defected or something their fault.

Also, they don't really do price match unless you find a really really nice CSR. They will usually tell you to return and rebuy, and the return cost will eat into your saving.

So I hVe a leap v2 that my fiancé is now using. I loved the chair but my shitty hip didnt love it. How's the gesture in comparison? I'm between this and an embody. I have an aeron at work but I tuck my leg at times and the hard rim makes it go numb.
