I was going to pull the trigger if the Amex $150 was still active, but it's not. How much better might a deal get? I don't know if I can stomach dropping this much on a chair!

I'll be able to compare on Dec 6, when the Gesture with headrest arrives.

I used a Herman Miller Aeron at work and found the Gesture to be much more comfortable. The main benefit to the Aeron personally is the mesh bottom for it to be a bit cooler in the summer, but otherwise, the Gesture is better in every other way to me. One of the major selling points initially was the seat frame on the Aeron is hard plastic around the edge which would really hurt my ankle when sitting with a foot up under the other knee, the Aeron made sitting like this not possible. The Gesture makes sitting like this very comfortable though.
If a headrest matters to you at all, spend the extra and get that model, you cannot add a headrest later on. There are two models, with and without the headrest and the back is structured differently internally making it "impossible" to just add a headrest later on. The back is also all cloth so you would need to cut holes through it or potentially damage it somehow to try and mount a third-party headrest.
Leap: Has lower lumbar 'stiffness' control
Gesture: Has more adjustable 4d arms
Otherwise, chairs are very similar. To me, the Leap feels more 'familiar', like office chairs I've used my whole life. It is more comfortable in lower lumber and seat. The Gesture is more comfortable in upper back. I noticed the gesture promotes a more forward upright position than leap. The Gesture's 4d arms are amazing, easily the chairs biggest selling point.
To me, the gesture would be perfect if it had the leap's lumbar stiffness control and it would have been a no brainer choice if that was included.
Tough call, but I think I would go for the Gesture if price is no object. The added arms controls are nice, it's a more modern looking design, and I feel the chair promotes better posture.
But the leap is less expensive, especially in the used market. As stated in thread, check out a furniture wholesaler. They refurb the chairs, steam clean and often are as good as new. You will save good money.
I also tried some Herman Millers. The Embody feels amazing in most respects, but the upper back is short and narrow, and cuts into my shoulder blades (I'm 6'2"). The Aeron is overrated, not a fan of the mesh.
Anyhow, think I'm going to go with a Gesture. Only decision left is leather vs cloth and headrest or no. Any advice here?
GET THE HEADREST!
After experiencing both versions, headrest version feels so much better!
You might think oh, I don't lean back much but trust me, you will have this chair for YEARS.
Times you want to sit back and relax, watch few youtube vids etc makes it so worthwhile.
You won't regret it~

I can see why people might like them but good lord is it not for me. I can't stand sitting at my desk anymore. I know I saw reviews pointing out flaws which I agree with, that I ignored... really regret not returning it and talking myself into "you just need to get used to it".
