When I did my cost-benefit analysis on a chair, I considered how much time I'd spend in it. If you work from home and spend 6-10hrs/day sitting in it, spending 2-3X on a comfortable chair is going to be far more worthwhile than most other ways you could spend that money. Me, I like to work almost entirely from my couch, so I skimped on the chair and spent a little extra for a reclining sofa. 😎

I use the Leap at work and loved it so much I convinced my manager to purchase me one for home (as I am doing hybrid work). It's so understated, but the most fantastic feeling chair ever and supports your back well.

I have the Gesture without the headrest and I hate it. Might feel differently if I had a headrest.

Was tempted to get a new Gesture with the headrest but looks like the sale ended.

Based on the number of likes, I'm glad we're not the only ones that prefer working from our sofas for optimal comfort. I have a side table for a second monitor, and purchased a sofa from Ashley Furniture that has a short seat depth and without the legs, my feet could touch the floor. It also has unzippable seat cushions, and I dropped $400 at foambymail on custom cut dual layer foam cushions (2" hard rubber foam base, 3" super max foam on top, and I spray glued them together), with Dacron wrap. I had Home Depot custom cut 3/6 backer board for the base too. It feels amazing. Only thing is it feels so amazing I never leave it. I kicked out my bed and now I sleep and work my sofa!

Edit: BTOD are great, had order some for my peers breaking their back while working from home and they were attentive and professional. No regrets.
How reliable is BTOD ? I've seen quite a few shaddy companies for chairs on East coast.

I bought it direct from Haworth. I did the quick ship all black mesh and paid about $800. It's unfortunate I could not find any used, but a local vendor did sell their furniture for office spaces so I was able to do a test sitting. The 20% off they have going right now I believe is their best pricing, I only got 10% off. I opted to NOT get the lumbar insert as it cannot be removed and BTOD said it was very pronounced. You can put a small pillow in the hollow of the back if you do feel you need more lumbar support.

None, just asked. It's pretty standard. You can also buy a chair and get reimbursed later .. meaning the letter can be dated after your purchase

Oh, sure. But my point is that the place to splurge is often on things you use most, even if it's not something you'd normally think of as worthwhile. If I have $1000 to spend on a new TV that will get maybe 5-10hrs use per week and a desk chair I'll use 40+hrs per week, it would be silly to spend $50 on a low-quality, uncomfortable chair just so I could spend more on the TV.

just picked up a new 2021 Leap v2 (open box) from a local spot like this (found via fb marketplace) for 300 delivered!

best chair ever...sat on a v2 for 5 yrs at my work & wanted to take it w/me when i left [settings [youtu.be]]
