Seriously, what did you expect, it was a one day sale and it sold out. It happens. I have missed out on countless deals here by being late to the game. Not a big deal. Get over yourselves and move onto the next deal instead of acting immature by complaining or being butt hurt because they won't bend over backwards for you.
Which is the best of the free phones?
Not only will they be locked to T-Mobile, but don't be surprised by the fact that budget phones like these slice and dice which bands they support based upon the operator which sold them. In other words, this is not the same phone as similarly named model from Verizon, and would have different capacity to support functionality on networks outside of T-Mobile (they're all probably 100% fine enough for AT&T).

Presumably the only reason the LG is on this list is because they've abandoned the Android market. Otherwise, it does not belong in the category of free phone and will surely go out of stock VERY quickly after this deal goes live. The other freebie Samsung phones are somewhere between cruel jokes and OK as a dummy device to run your remote control app.

Good luck!

Drop down? I don't see a drop down.

Are there any downsides to upgrading all our lines, aside from have to forkup the owing amount if we want to cancel lines?
Always good to keep a line with no EIP incase a deal pops up. With this, I have 8 out of 9 lines that have eip promos attached. Ive been a busy boy over last 24 months.

Got it. Open the site in incognito mode or clear all of your cookies. Incognito mode worked for me. When you select the phone you want to upgrade, a pop-up will appear that gives you a choice to add a line or upgrade a device. Make sure any pop-up blockers you have are turned off too.

When I used the App, and tried to get Velvet that way, it just wanted to add a line. But when I logged into browser, and went to upgrade device, it worked perfectly fine, showing the Promo discount, no new line, just tax and shipping.

Would the credits still work if the phone's paid off and the line is removed from the account before 24 months?
That's what most users experience. The only trap in your question is whether the credits were also tied to maintaining the line. If they're like this offer, and just tied to the phone offer, you'd be fine.

Good luck!

Anybody else get the vibe that they were going to get charged the full amount? Most of the process, they said that I would get bill credits. But at the end I had to DocuSign saying that I understand I was financing 400 bucks.

If you pay off an EIP early, the credits move from the line to the account.

It's in July security patch and got updated to Android 11. It's a great value and the phone itself is beautiful! I wouldn't consider it, but it's free. Honestly, it's one of the best budget phones out there. The only thing is budget about this phone is it's CPU from Mediatek. Not that it's bad, it's just not your regular 865 or 888 Dragon. LG has committed to update this particular phone until Android 13. At least that's what they promised. We will see

Velvet will receive 3 years of updates from LG. It was released 4/2020 so it will stay updated until 2023. LG also mentioned that there's potential Android 12 upgrade as well.

Also, not sure if this has been noted yet, but the T-Mobile variant of Velvet uses MediaTek Dimensity 1000C rather than Snapdragon 765 (AT&T) and 765G (Verizon, mMwave compatible). Performance-wise the Dimensity 1000C is closer to the 800 rather than the 1000, Mediatek's flagship SoC. Between the two, 1000C slightly outperforms the 765G.
I'd linked earlier to the specs, but I'll include it here later in the thread as well because you both highlight an important point about this LG. This is mostly a flagship. The screen is going to be awesome, the RAM and storage are generous, and support for SD storage will be handy for some. The CPU is plenty peppy for most anything you could generally need, but it isn't going to put a Samsung S21 to shame (apparently even the Pixel 6 [androidpolice.com] doesn't always do that). And of course the camera is not garbage or broken, and typically meets [dxomark.com] the flagship level standard, but don't expect performance on par with the latest iPhone or Pixel.

Could be an upgrade for many (if only I could get my bro-in-law to dump his S7). However, for others this is just a nice around-the-house OLED phablet.

Good luck!
Jon
