It's not the keyboard that sucks
This is my favorite keyboard!
I've gone through 3 of these, so my experience hasn't been as good as OP's. The reason I went through 3 instead of 1 is because the keyboard was probably the best ergonomic and quiet one out there (if not the only one at the time). All the other ergonomic keyboards were loud and clacky using older style keys instead of chiclet. Over time the keyboards would stop holding a connection and basically became large flat paperweights. Also, my FN keys would stick sometimes, the esc key is too small, and I prefer a 2-row layout for insert/home/pgup/etc. I never used the mouse as I found it to be too bulbous for my liking.

Now there are alternatives out there, and I have moved on. I'm now using a Logitech K860. The layout is slightly off from the MS one, and it took me a week or so to be fully comfortable with it. I personally like the keypad attached, but some may not. It's more expensive than the MS one, but so far (1.5 yr) it has been solid for me.

I'm a programmer, so my use might differ from yours.

Edit: I should mention that I went through 3 at both work and home over 8 or so years, so I do feel like I got my money's worth.

I can vouch that this set helped me tremendously as I was developing carpal tunnel pretty bad as I started working from home for first time in my career transitioning from direct service where I did not have much desk/keyboard time. This plus some PT stretches has kept me alright, made a huge difference.

I use these both at work and at home. Even do light gaming on it. Makes a huge difference if you have wrist / hand pain from excessive typing, etc.

How ergonomic is it? Need something for my sister who works at home on the computer 10+ hrs a day. Her wrist is feeling the pain and wasn't sure if this mouse and keyboard would help.

I have no use for the mouse. Not sure if it is worth it just for the keyboard.. My daily driver is Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I can use a spare one for my personal computer..

I love this Keyboard and Mouse. been using this for past 5 years with no issues.
My only wish is it has back-lit keyboard. Other that that I am happy with this combo.

Any body else's rubber from the mouse peeling? No other issues, love having a separate keypad for my work

Yes, rubber peeling, back button stopped working. New mouse cannot be paired with the old dongle. I liked the set but lost use of the mouse after a little over a year.

I'm using this keyboard for the past 6-7 years (had a few of them). It definitely has a learning curve but once you're past that, you would not want to try anything else.
I can't comment about the mouse as I'm using a Logitech.

Not as great as the old MS BT 7000, but they do not make that one anymore. Typing on it now. Use the one posted at work and got a backup.

Working 8 hours sitting in front of a computer and typing all day, I can say this keyboard helped my carpal tunnel. I don't recommend this mouse as it worsened the pain in my wrist. I use a Logitech MX master mouse instead.

CON - if you lose the included USB receiver you cannot use your keyboard anymore and will have to trash it. You will not be able to buy a replacement USB from microsoft or anywhere else.

Overall, the best keyboard I've used in my professional career.

Does this have the lift attachment like the 4000?
Yes, and it's magnetic so you can remove/attach it quickly.
