It's not the keyboard that sucks
This is my favorite keyboard!
I've gone through 3 of these, so my experience hasn't been as good as OP's. The reason I went through 3 instead of 1 is because the keyboard was probably the best ergonomic and quiet one out there (if not the only one at the time). All the other ergonomic keyboards were loud and clacky using older style keys instead of chiclet. Over time the keyboards would stop holding a connection and basically became large flat paperweights. Also, my FN keys would stick sometimes, the esc key is too small, and I prefer a 2-row layout for insert/home/pgup/etc. I never used the mouse as I found it to be too bulbous for my liking.

Now there are alternatives out there, and I have moved on. I'm now using a Logitech K860. The layout is slightly off from the MS one, and it took me a week or so to be fully comfortable with it. I personally like the keypad attached, but some may not. It's more expensive than the MS one, but so far (1.5 yr) it has been solid for me.

I'm a programmer, so my use might differ from yours.

Edit: I should mention that I went through 3 at both work and home over 8 or so years, so I do feel like I got my money's worth.

I had this keyboard for a while until I bought a custom physical split keyboard to help with wrist pain.

This is not a bad keyboard for the price. The ergo mouse which comes with it is not bad either. The numpad is kind of ok.

The part I dislike is how hard the palm rest is to clean over time. But at this price you can deal with it.

This is the standard issue at my workplace and it is actually a very good economic keyboard., this is from someone who has used much more expensive economic keyboards such as kinesis advantage. This keyboard got two very important ergonomics features right: negative tilt and split. Detached num keypad means shorter keyboard so mouse can be placed closer, it means less arm/wrist movement ( which is also good ergonomics). Two things I don't like about this keyboard are: first, f keys are too small and hard to press, 2nd: the dongle is uniquely paired to each keyboard, if you lost it, keyboard becomes e-waste

I have no use for the mouse. Not sure if it is worth it just for the keyboard.. My daily driver is Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. I can use a spare one for my personal computer..

The mouse is actually not bad at all economics wise, May not be as good as a track ball or vertical mouse but definitely better than average mouse

Love the keyboard and mouse. After 2.5 years the mouse started peeling, then the left button stopped working. Got it replaced, then a year later the replacements mouse wheel and buttons stopped working. MS won't replace it again, so I bought an Anker vertical mouse, but still using the keyboard.

This is my absolute favorite keyboard. Ergonomically, for someone who sits behind a desk and writes a lot of e-mails and reports, it has been awesome. The magnetic lift for the keyboard is easy to add/remove as needed to provide better wrist comfort. I have this keyboard for both my home and work offices and this has prevented me from spending far too much money on a mech keyboard obsession I am very close to embarking upon.

The mouse on the other hand lasted for only a few days. Oddly shaped and weird button placement made it a less than desirable daily use. There are far better ergonomic mice out there.
