Best Buy is not a participating retailer for that promo

Edit: this TV also doesn't qualify for that promo. Check the "terms" link on the page you gave the URL for

Just got back with one of these and tried it out. Surprisingly good! There is definitely some bloom, but nothing too distracting. Even credits etc look fine, and letterbox bars are truly black. I find those to be the most important reason to have full array dimming, as I can't stand when the letterbox bars get brighter and darker on TVs that try to shift the whole backlight.

There seems to be a black frame insertion feature, which might matter if you game, but it does dim the image a lot, and has a perceptible flicker to me. I plan to just use the set for movies and sports, and turned off as much motion smoothing etc as possible, and am really happy with the results. No dirty screen effect that I could notice, and trying solid shades of grey, the panel looked surprisingly uniform. Overall it exceded my expectations, certainly at this price. Shadow detail in difficult scenes was okay, not mind blowing, but visible (as long as you don't use the "dark" Dolby Vision setting that is the default for some reason).

Unless you're a screen snob, have a preference for ultra-smooth "soap opera" effect, or want 120fps 4k gaming, I think most people won't find anything to complain about, based on the panel I got.

Wow. Heck of a deal, especially considering the U6GR5 (?) 55" from Costco was $449.99.

May unfortunately be too much tv for my needs.
U6GR5 65" at Costco is 499 today

Now it's getting ridiculous; every retailer was holding back and it's getting annoying with all these return purchase things because they know people are split when it comes to price

Might jump on this for the patio. Deep covered patio and lots of trees so sun isnt an issue. Only problem is where I want to put it, this tv might be a little to big, might have to wait on a 55 deal.

I've heard folks saying that this U6 model doesn't have the same picture quality as the Android TV edition - true?
According to Rtings [rtings.com]:
Quote :
Hisense has released a variant of this TV, known as the Hisense U6GR or Hisense U6GR5. It's a completely different TV, with more advanced gaming features, including variable refresh rate support. It also runs the Roku smart interface instead of Android TV. We don't expect our results here to be valid for the U6GR.

The biggest difference seems to be that this one has fewer adjustments, so it may come down to how you feel about the out of the box picture. Thankfully it does have an "off" option for motion smoothing, but no more granular controls.
Where are you seeing this? I would love to read up on the differences.

Note this is a roku TV and roku is in trouble with YouTube TV and also Amazon prime. If you are ok to buy a Standalone android streaming device to use Android TV features , then you are good.
