Just got back with one of these and tried it out. Surprisingly good! There is definitely some bloom, but nothing too distracting. Even credits etc look fine, and letterbox bars are truly black. I find those to be the most important reason to have full array dimming, as I can't stand when the letterbox bars get brighter and darker on TVs that try to shift the whole backlight.

There seems to be a black frame insertion feature, which might matter if you game, but it does dim the image a lot, and has a perceptible flicker to me. I plan to just use the set for movies and sports, and turned off as much motion smoothing etc as possible, and am really happy with the results. No dirty screen effect that I could notice, and trying solid shades of grey, the panel looked surprisingly uniform. Overall it exceded my expectations, certainly at this price. Shadow detail in difficult scenes was okay, not mind blowing, but visible (as long as you don't use the "dark" Dolby Vision setting that is the default for some reason).

Unless you're a screen snob, have a preference for ultra-smooth "soap opera" effect, or want 120fps 4k gaming, I think most people won't find anything to complain about, based on the panel I got.

I wholeheartedly disagree that it is slow on this TV. I got the 50" U6G from Best Buy last week and it is infinitely snappier than any Roku TV I have ever used/had.

For reference, I've had the 50" 4 series TCL and a 65" 6 series. Both are much slower running Roku than this Hisense does Android. My 2016 LG runs WebOS faster than my 6 series handles Roku. YMMV, but I don't think you'll find issues with the speed of the OS on Hisense.

I owned this model for 2 weeks and just returned it to Costco yesterday. From what I understand you play the panel lottery when you buy a Hisense and the panel I received was really bad. With movies it looked pretty good actually as long as scenes weren't too dark or bright. That said some games were near unplayable. For example I tried out Hades and when you moved the screen turned into a muddy mess and it was hard to tell what was going on. With the Guardians of the Galaxy game I could see a strange grid pattern whenever I was looking at a light or dark area. Ghosting was bad on every game that I tried.

I wouldn't recommend this tv for anyone that games. I bought an LG instead and it's a way better display.

I bit the bullet on this one. At 65" the u7g at 800 and the u8g at 1000, this is a heck of a deal. The paypal offer pushed me over the edge. I set delivery for mid January just in case something better pops up, but this deal is crazy good

Both the TVs are same or different - one from costco (U6GR5) and this one from best buy ( U6GR). Looks like both the TVs are completely different from U6G android version.

I was able to get this tv from Costco at $499. Just canceled the 65" Vizio M7. It is hard to resist at this price.
