Resin is mostly used for prop and figure making, dentures and other dentistry, custom jewelry and part casting, and prototyping in the design/engineering industry. It can be brittle (although flexibles exist) and therefore seldom used for large functional items. Higher end custom process machines have limitless possibilities (massivit can do 6' figure in 6hours with no suports or infil[youtube.com]). That's actually an FDM style resin printer, which is pretty neat.

Cautions: Uncured UV resin is toxic, bad for water system, and will cause sensitization over time with prolonged skin contact.
In short, and regardless of type of resin (even water soluble):
- Ventilate area well or wear organic filter respirator
- Wear gloves at all times
- Never touch uncured resin with bare hands
- NEVER wash it down sink or drain (not even water soluble)
- Cure all uncured resin before disposal
- Overexpose/cure all resin in your "wash" bins before disposal
- Cured resin can be disposed in regular waste (check local codes)

If you take one thing away from the above list, don't pour or wash uncured resin down the sink!,
