I don't like the cup simply for this reason. If I drank black coffee, I would be in love with it.
Not as slick looking, but for a whopping 22 bucks you could also get a temperature controlled heating pad to use with your plain old dishwasher safe ceramic mug: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779QR...ZB3E1
I admit these seem very expensive, and they are. I hemmed and hawed for a while because getting one. I've used it literally every day for the last two years. Absolutely worth every penny.

Also, this cup warming/charging system would be a great feature for newer cars similar to built-in magnetic induction phone chargers.
There is good technology like adding backup cameras to cars and trucks and there is technology making things needlessly overcomplicated. Why a refrigerator needs a tv screen and a washing machine needs wifi I have no idea. This is leading us to look like people in Wall-E
Then I can have my perfect temperature for 5 days.
I do agree the perfect temp beverage is nice. insulated can only slow down the rate of heat loss (or gain, depending on your use case).

If it's too hot in the thermos, you can always invest in those thermal stones that cool down hot coffee some?
Legit question because I just bought the Costco version…damn Slickdeals.
I suppose this is good for someone who works from home and sips at their coffee from a mug for hours?
Honestly, a 14oz mug you're gonna fill to about 12-13oz... I'm going to be done with that in 30 minutes.
Anything more goes in a thermos, and a good Henkel or Zoji keeps it HOT all day.

The real issue is that the really good thermos bottles keep stuff too hot. I found myself making my coffee at 4:00 when I left and the coffee only really being drinkable at 10:00 or even 12:00. So I could either pour it out and drink small amounts from a ceramic cup or just nurse my coffee all day long. Active cooling is possible but generally a lot more energy intensive. The nice thing about the active heating + mediocre thermos design of the ember is that cooling is fast enough (reviews suggest about an hour) to be useful.
