You can literally use these Processors for any kind of demanding tasks like Video Encoding, huge Code compilation, Huge data calculations in Excels, rendering etc. This processor can be up to 100% more powerful in multithreaded applications than Intel's best 11th Gen CPU 1185G7 or 1195G7.

Deal is okay, but I paid $1109 over the weekend for the T14s:
- Ryzen 7 Pro 5850u
- 32gb LPDDR4X 4266MHz
- 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS, anti-glare, touchscreen with Privacy Guard, 500 nits
- .4lbs lighter because carbon fiber, magnesium alloy, aluminum.
**T14 above is plastic and magnesium alloy. (Heavier and thicker).
T14 does have a slot to upgrade ram as well.

As far as I know, most people buying Thinkpads want a powerful laptop that will last for 10 years and seem good the whole time. This will probably pull that off. But it won't play games well even today.
Looks like if we use the laptop unplugged most of the time, its better to go with Intel. Ryzen is best with power cable plugged in
May be you should check out reviews with actual data available rather than random baseless claims.

Check those.
Also is it possible to upgrade the battery?
I used to work on a big monitor and when I plugged back into after traveling for a while I felt handicapped, everything looked so big I couldn't get anything done haha
Why, why couldn't Lenovo move to something looking a bit nicer for this line???

If you're okay with these shortcomings this will be an absolutely amazing machine for you (I have a previous gen version) - especially with the 5850u.

3840x2160 is standard, "4K", 16:9 resolution. Are you saying it's a 16:10 screen, and pixels are stretched in the vertical? Where are you seeing 16:10?
>> lack of pcie4, thunderbolt 4
That pretty much dates most laptops, at this particular juncture. Until AMD-based laptops start integrating TB - they can do that now, just haven't yet, as far as I know off-hand - only Intel laptops have it, but USB 3.x and 4 has been/will be perfectly fine for vast majority of users. Yes, PCIe4 would be nice, but again, likely not a deal-breaker for most users. It just happens to be a period of high flux in laptop features at the moment. Conversely, the bright, saturated 4K display, HDR/Dolby, RAM, and higher-end CPU put this unit ahead of the curve in many ways, and provides more "future-proofing" for most users needs. TB4 is nice if one wants to add, say, an external GPU, but that's not a high percentage of users at this point. Price:performance, this units loaded, if one's willing to risk the current state of Lenovo build quality and support (I haven't had a Lenovo in a while, but lots of people with similar complaints lately).

Like I said in my original post this is an awesome laptop as long as you're aware of the amd platform limitations and dated screen format. Not having pcie4 or tb4 definitely isn't unworkable for most people, but even a few months from now after the flood of ces launches anticipating universal platform support for these standards (via Ryzen 6000) it could be a lot more annoying.
