I'm West coast, and periodically travel a few hundred miles. Can go for an hour or so with no cell signal or if there is signal - no data/not enough data to stream. Doing the $60/year for several years. Stream in other vehicles. No, the quality is not the best on some channels, but I appreciate the variety. Comedy channels will always suck as most of what you hear is older, and ripped from bad club audio recordings. Been that way, will probably always be that way since they're snippets and not a full show that's easily audio-adjusted like the comedy shows you watch on TV. Worth the $5/mo. for me to not have to listen to the endless "need a car and have bad credit?" radio commercials on regular radio. Yeah, I've got 20+ hours of MP3's on my phone, but again - variety is sometimes nice.

Really hate how deals are only ever for people who are not customers. Despite my insistence, my wife has continued to be a customer for about 10 years, now. The only deal we ever see is 1 year for about $99, which comes out to be about $120 after fees and We get ours for $60 every year by simply asking. They'll do it without even flinching.

Yes, in the early days of the Covid lockdown you could do that. I posted a thread about it that got fairly long.

But they seem to have rescinded that option and we're back to the bad old days.
I renewed mine at a discount of $60/year using chat last week.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the point of this technology these days vs. services like Spotify?
You can spend as long as you like driving through areas with absolutely no cell signal and have a decent selection of news, entertainment, music to choose from and no need to constantly scan for nearby stations that match your taste as you go.

If you're in socal and drive the grapevine/valley, for example, it's worth a few bucks per month. If you enjoy the outdoors it works all the way out in national parks or up in the mountains.

Right now anyone with an active subscription about to renew can just call to cancel and a bot will offer 12mo/$60 which actually ends up at ~$83 (or $7/mo) as they add in their fees and taxes over the course of 30 seconds (lol), but you don't even have to talk to a person.

What is everyone paying (promo rate) for the Select / Platinum plan or a plan that includes Howard?

They are definitely real, but they should he included in the quoted price, just like most other businesses include their costs in a quoted price. I love my SiriusXM - I've had it for years. But their sales and cancellation practices are less than transparent.
Totally agree with that!

They do say fees and taxes apply but who expects that to amount to anything?

But are they any worse than cable companies. Or cell phone companies?

They all hide the ball.

Any one have a way around this? I am trying to get that 3 year deal. But every time I login my details, I get an error page and then directed to the 1 year $99 price.

Heck, I used to call to cancel every time my discounted offer came up for expiration. Every single time the would bargain their way down to $5.49/mo for 12 months. I had that rate for 10yrs, until I cancelled due to covid.

XM saved me as a customer when they added access from an app as well as my Google home devices. I can now pipe XM radio into any room (or all rooms) of the house... plus use it when driving. Well worth the $6 and change per month after fees. The new pricing above would make it even better.

They wouldn't even offer that a few days ago when I cancelled before renewal despite it being available as a promo on their site for new customer. Never had problems in previous years getting that deal , and I pointed out I could just sign up for that after canceling.

I get why they don't offer the $5 a month for retention, but not offering retention at $120 billed annually for something that basically adds no marginal costs to them seems dumb to me.

I was paying $99 for the all access package which is about $125 with fees. Best offer I got on cancellation was about $180 after fees. They also offered me the package without Stern for $99.

It was annoying as they kept pitching the same deal I said I didn't want in different ways multiple times before finally cancelling.

Howard Stern used to be an independent thinker. Rebellious and funny. Now he just does whatever his rich corporate owners tell him to (the same thing happened to Tom Leykis)
Yah those rich corporate owners who told him to get his staff to pee in buckets to the beat of music.....or the rich corporate owners who had the guy come in and do penis tricks like stuffing his balls in his own ass and pooping them out....what a shill he is!!

No go on new account/radio never used before. You'd think they'd want good promos like these on new customers. Best they'd give me is $30 for 6 months or $72 for a year. Nothing special.
