I have 16 gauge 13 amp 125 volt cable. Would that work? Darn, I should've taken a physics or an engineering course in college
Also, it's telling you it's 10 amp. Try to get something that'll deliver close to that and if you can't, then don't go trying to cut down mini trees with it.
These are problems not encountered with a similar battery tool because you'd not even try to tackle those problems with them... They'll just die out or plain burn out
If you ever see your tool STRUGGLING (for an excessive period of time) because you're going through some crazy thick weeds or worse, SEIZING because it's getting tangled on something STOP and fix the problem.
What you're hearing about is how your equipment, including the wire, can overheat and you'll ruin everything. It'll be very obvious if that's happening given what we know now (you have a 13 amp graded wire, it'll be fine because this is 10 amp *at most*)
I'm not sure why people care so much, it's all very cheap. If I was you, with the smaller property, just start with this or get both a corded and battery option... If I was to recommend one or the other, just get corded. It'll last forever and you can decide to get a battery one (or even *gasp* gasoline powered) later if you're getting so sick of the cord.
Plug-in equipment is "ALWAYS" stronger. You can use it all day.
Also...from the first time it is used, a battery strength starts diminishing.
Batteries need to be replaced and they can be expensive.
Go for the cordless version. Never had any problem with any battery (Kobalt / Ryobi,/ Greenworks etc)

Agreed
Ef that get Ryobi
It is a slick deal if you can use it. I have the heavy-duty cord already. I just know this will sit in the box for 10 years. Must pass. TU for the deal though.
I don't think brickseek works for Lowe's right now but you can try. The item number is 1438128.
I've used this trimmer with run up to 100 feet at 16 gauge, but only at 50% duty cycle (on 30 sec, off 30 sec). Also replaced the stock head with a fast loading head and 0.095" line.
Getting a shoulder strap will dramatically reduce hand fatigue. Use a step down power box from Harbor Freight if the speed is too fast for your lawn. The stock speed has plenty of power to cut any weeds up to 1/3" diameter.
I lock-wire the safety lever so that I can run this trimmer with one finger.

2. Battery is heavy, expensive, and will degrade over time. It works best for a small yard.
This machine has plenty of power to cut anything in my big yard.
