If you don't mind the power cord, I highly recommend this trimmer. To me, the biggest plus of corded is never having to worry about not being able to mow the entire lawn. Cable management is paramount, however. My yard isn't huge at 12,000 sq ft lot, so a 100-ft extension cord and 2 outlets (one for the front, one for the back) is all it takes.
I've had some of those battery powered 11"-12" trimmer before and would never go back.

More power is better, right? I heard my friend say the string is too easy to break for power like this, anyone can confirm that?

1200 watts for a string trimmer is absolutely excessive. It's the attachments where it would come in handy, but even a 620w trimmer is still overkill if it's a decent motor.
