Same processor as Surface 8 Pro. SSD can be easily replaced.

This was also $799 at Costco a week ago, and Surface Pen was also included in that price (plus better warranty and returns)

Agreed. To note, that was member only pricing and is no longer available. Pen was $59.99 on Amazon when I bought it yesterday. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...=UTF8&th=1

Not sure we will see a better deal before Christmas is why I bought mine and posted this deal.

I used a Surface Pro 6 (i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) with a Microsoft Surface Dock as my desktop for two years. I had 4 USB devices, sound, ethernet, and a display port connected.

I'm confused on the replaceability of the SSD (I'm getting old). I googled and getting conflicting info. I might be mixing up the models. Just trying to find out if larger SSD (216 or 512 gig) can be easily replaced. Like pop out/unscrew the current SSD and pop in the new and format? I would assume so.

Question: is your post about this deal or about the specs and what you think it should cost? I can live with the storage limits but I don't want to keep a bad deal. History wise, the price seems good.

Thinking about holding out for an i7

Is the graphics similar to all the other integrated ones? What games can this run up to without noticeable issues?

Pretty good deal since the keyboard cover is valued at $130+

My Surface Pro 2 is still running like the day I got it, but obviously 8 years later the performance is getting sluggish, so I might upgrade to this new one.
We replaced two Surface Pro 2 with 2 of these from Costco and still have two others sitting in docks. Takes a little getting used to the slight increase in size and the move of the power and volume buttons too. Was going to go for the Go with an I3 to keep the size factor but it was almost as much as this deal. Worth the upgrade after 8 or so years.

I love that they finally allow for the ssd upgrades. If they did the same for RAM, sales would increase significantly. 8GB is acceptable for the day to day, but the processor and intrgrated video are capable of some work loads that would be limited by RAM. That is why so many people complain about 8GB ram. To get 16GB the cost increase is not worth it and most will just go buy a laptop at that price point. I'm probably going to grab a gaming laptop that has much better specs and can do video intensive tasks and has the ability to upgrade ram/ssd. The Pro 8 now has Thunderbolt and will allow EGPU but still limited by RAM.

Completely agree here. Software is always getting more sophisticated so I would rather be more future-proof to what my current needs are.

No. If you have a problem, just stick the original SSD back in.

This has nothing to do with me being OP and normally goes against my own advice, but electronics are something I tend to buy somewhere around the middle or the sweet spot as they say. My thinking is I'd rather buy a new toy in 2 years than make one last for 4 years, as an example. This contradicts other things I do such as buy the right car the first time or not skimping when doing home improvements.
