Apparently there are two models, the TS813 and the TS8132. I assume the TS8132 is the newer and current model. The biggest difference appears to be that the TS813 does not have optical and the TS8132 does, so if optical is important to you this could be a concern.

Since the Walmart listing says it supports optical and comes with an optical cable then it should be the TS8132. But about half the reviews say it doesn't have optical, so I guess it's a crap shoot on which one you get. I ordered one for shipping thinking that I might stand a better chance of getting the new model instead of one that's been on the store shelf for a year, but I could be wrong. I didn't feel like driving down there and fighting the crowd to find out which one they had.

The TCL product page is at https://www.tcl.com/us/en/products/sound-bars/alto-8-series/alto-8-plus-3-1-2-channel-sound-bar-ts81... [tcl.com] To further confuse matters near the top of the page it lists optical, but in the Specifications sections it says Optical = NO. The downloadable specs PDF says Yes.

I guess I'll find out in a few days when it arrives, and at least Walmart is easy for returns.

Sorry. All I did was copy and paste the description from the Walmart website. I'm just someone who was looking for a soundbar and stumbled upon this deal.

Would this be better than my Yamaha 109 2.0 sound bar?

My samsung TV was already set on bitstream. There is no passthrough option. There's a passthrough button on the soundbar remote, but all that does is switch to the TV speakers. Like I said, the sound is still very good, but it's frustrating that I can't get any of my video apps (netflix, disney+, HBO Max or prime video) to recognize that I have an atmos compatible soundbar.
I have a new 65" element roku that was the target deal and using it with a fire tv stick watching Disney plus (ironman) the sound bar recognized atmos. I haven't tried using the roku apps built into the tv as I prefer fire stick max as it have wifi 6 and handles the 4k better I feel. So I have sound bar into tv arc port via HDMI. I have fire stick on hdmi 2 of my tv. When I go to play a atmos enabled movie the sound bar will scroll and say Dolby surround then Dolby atmos. When I go to non atmos movie just says Dolby surround.

This should have a "Night Mode" that boosts the treble and dialogue but cuts the bass down
Do you have this sound bar? I'm asking because I have it and the only thing I notice with the night mode is the sound bar display lights dim. The display says Dim1 Dim 2 when toggling the night mode but I don't notice any sound difference.

edit: just figured it out by holding down the button for 2-3 seconds enables "night mode"

Throwing in my 0.02 comparison here. I previously had a Vizio SB3621n that I picked up a couple Thanksgivings ago, and I did a side by side comparison on how these two handle music. TL;DR I'm not impressed.

Overall, the TCL soundbar is pretty muddy, and the woofer falls on the weak side. The Dolby surround is a cool effect, which is probably good for gaming, but it doesn't do justice to vocals at all. It just reverbs all the sound and makes it hard to discern voices. Haven't watched a movie with this yet, but I'd be surprised if there was a discrete center channel that didn't suffer from reverb.

The major problem I have with the bar is there are only two adjustments you can make: treble and bass. This is shared across the bar/woofer, meaning you can't adjust the soundbar separately from the sub. There's no way to clean up the distracting bass/reverb coming from the soundbar without basically turning off the already-quiet sub.

Another negative point: once the TCL got too loud, the audio started to distort — my cheap Vizio gets louder on all fronts without that issue. That said, the SB3621n is definitely tinnier than the TCL, and it doesn't have Dolby, surround, ARC, or Airplay (all of which the TCL has). Since the Vizio can't do ARC/CEC, I just picked up a $15 sideclick, and it gets the job done fine.

I'd say the two feel like they belong at the same price point. Considering the SB3621n frequently goes on sale for $100 or less, I'd say it's the better value, especially if you don't need the "wow" factor of the fake surround sound.

Hope this helps someone ✌️

To be fair though, you should try this with a non-atmos movie and an atmos movie to let us know your thoughts.

So far I think im gonna keep my $70 2.1 vizio.

That's fair. I went ahead and watched about 20 mins of an Atmos movie. The soundstage on the TCL is significantly wider. The speakers are better quality, and it handles low-end bass wayyy better. It has a much more "movie theater" feel to it. That said, the muddy bass/reverb issue is still there on the center channel, which messes with dialog and higher notes. It's not awful , but not great. Everything is just a little bassy...it's what I imagine Beats by Dre would sound like in soundbar form.

The fact that the EQ is so limited, and with how poorly it plays music, I plan to return this. It was a cool experience, but I need my soundbar to do more than just rumble movies.

If you want this for a home theater, I'll give you the advice you don't want to hear — get a real surround setup. A clean center channel is critical, and this ain't it.

Just got mine today. Connected it to a fairly new TCL TV using ARC HDMI and there's a noticeable lag in sound. Actors look like they're lip synching. Anyone knows a fix for this? I tried adding a delay etc from the TV but when i switch it off and on? The timing is off again.

moving to poorope, aka europe, in a few months. US has 110-120V, EUhas 230-240V. those hertzes, 50/60, are also important. some electricity mumbojumbo, i dunno. so, would be nice to take them with us and just swap the power cable with ones that have EU plug. TVs in US are usually only 110V. so no takey the TV over the pond, unfortunately. i was surprised that soundbars are usually 100-240V. have another cheapo one from a slickdeal, a vizio, and it also has switching power.

this happens to me with my vizio soundbar and I usually just turn off the soundbar for a min and turn back on. If that does not work then I just turn off everything and its fine. Usually when this happens it is when Im streaming something and my internet skips a beat and throws the sync all off.

Can you add rear speakers to this? I just ordered the vizio 5.1 setup from WM which i don't think offers atmos.

Just picked one up at my local store for $147.17 and they had at least one more in stock. Rang up at $218 at the register, but $147.17 on their app and had to get manager override. I'm not looking for perfect theater audiophile sound, just something better than the built-in speakers for watching some TV and hopefully decent dialogue sound.
