Since the Walmart listing says it supports optical and comes with an optical cable then it should be the TS8132. But about half the reviews say it doesn't have optical, so I guess it's a crap shoot on which one you get. I ordered one for shipping thinking that I might stand a better chance of getting the new model instead of one that's been on the store shelf for a year, but I could be wrong. I didn't feel like driving down there and fighting the crowd to find out which one they had.
The TCL product page is at https://www.tcl.com/us/en/products/sound-bars/alto-8-series/alto-8-plus-3-1-2-channel-sound-bar-ts81... [tcl.com] To further confuse matters near the top of the page it lists optical, but in the Specifications sections it says Optical = NO. The downloadable specs PDF says Yes.
I guess I'll find out in a few days when it arrives, and at least Walmart is easy for returns.

they had it in stock Alexandria, VA
My first time experiencing Dolby Atmos. This thing rocks!! I'm hearing things I never heard before!
Another option is the PAYPAL10 ($10 off $50) if you pay by PayPal and have not taken advantage of that coupon yet.
I am real tempted by this. On the TCL site it seems like a good build with both a woofer and tweeter for the main three channels, and two upfiring drivers for the Atmos.
That plus eArc HDMI and just about every apple/google/alexa/spotify option you could want.
But I already have two great sounding soundbars and can't justify upgrading.
Wish I could also find more review on the specific model.

The biggest downside is there's no real menu or intricate display and there's no set up menu. It's all very simple but complicated due to lack of interface.
Also I'm sure this has been answered but it does have an optical input on the soundbar I saw someone wondering about this.

My setup HISENSE U8G and Apple TV 4K. Audio lag happens with or with no Apple TV
we have a caavo control center (works like a charm). roku stick HDMI1, xbox one s HDMI2, htpc HDMI3 and tivo stream HDMI4. with our previous soundbar, everything worked fine. it also had HDMI-in and HDMI-out (ARC). our samsung TV doesnt have ARC. but, from caavo to HDMI-in and then HDMI-out on the vizio soundbar to HDMI1 on our samsung TV worked right from the box. no issues whatsoever.
with this soundbar, same setup, same cables… nothing. after going thru TVs menus, changing HDMI ports on TV, fiddling with the soundbar options (HDMI-in, passthru, HDMI-ARC) still nothing. no signal. well, thats just dandy. bought it on a whim, didnt tell the old ball and chain, this going to be a long week. but then i remembered. this soundbar came with one HDMI cable. so i threw that in our setup. and removed a GE HDMI cable from lowes. HDMI cable that came with the soundbar from soundbar to TV, and the other one (which was used from previous soundbar to TV) from caavo to this new soundbar. we have signal! yay!
sure, caavo doesnt do atmos, but thats not a biggie for us right now. the sound is ok, i always struggle with dialogue when it comes to soundbars, but then we get used to it. on the old vizio soundbar i turned off half of the effects and it was ok. this soundbar doesnt have any effects options, just on and off. lol. but, if i keep it on movie and lower the bass amount, its ok. will try atmos later on when we move and buy a proper tv.
oh, and btw. this soundbar is wrapped in cloth. like real cloth. the old vizio soundbar also was wrapped in cloth style thingy, but it wasnt flapping around like on this one. that will be a dust magnet for sure. all in all satisfied with the purchase. previous setup didnt have a subwoofer and even though this one comes with a smallish sub it definitely rattles and shakes if volume is above 30-35. havent tested airplay, chromecast, usb playback, bluetooth… havent noticed any lag, i just had to adjust delay in kodi on our htpc from +125ms to +100ms.
also, there is distortion if you keep the bass level at +4/+5 and crank the volume up above 30. theres an optical out, but no optical cable with this model. subwoofer connected right out of the box, no issues here. and last but not least, its much quieter at lower volume then our previous vizio soundbar. could be that the previous one had two effects that can be turned off and on, so that might help. i have to put volume at around 20 to hear stuff, especially dialogue.
for someone whos not demanding i think this is a good deal. thanks for reading my blog.

I also have a Bose Solo 10. Would something like this be an upgrade from that?
