This is the best bang for your buck if you're looking for a lower end price sound bar. Dialogue is clear from 7' away and no latency problem. The little subwoofer does really well in a 13'x15' room after moving it around to find the right spot. Just enough bass that it really doesn't seem overwhelming but still enough to enjoy. Some movies with Dolby Atmos sound do really comes out and make the experience of watching a film much better. ARC does work with MU6300 Samsung HDR TV passing DD to sound bar. Airplay and bluetooth playing music (Tidal and Pandora) from iPhone sound decent.
Overall so far, I have no complaints and happy with the purchase.

This was an upgrade to 6 yrs old Bose Cinemate 15 but the sound was too low and not as clear. i am not an audio expert but the difference in sound quality was huge.. The sub-woofer is weak for a big room. Returned it back today..

Ordered yesterday and it's ready for pickup, but seeing it may not work with my Harmony Hub might make me cancel. Anyone get it to work with a hub?
It was not in the Logitech database but I was able to manually set it up by teaching the hub the commands from the TCL remote. I had problems with this learning process initially. I found that I had to have the TCL remote a certain distance from the hub and at a certain relative angle before it worked. And even then I had to redo a few of the functions because they didn't work properly. Keep trying!

The sound goes out for a second when I raise or lower the volume. I've never had a soundbar do that. Is it supposed to on this or is mine damaged?
This is not happening on mine. I have my sound running through optical.

I bought one of these over the weekend. The wireless sub doesn't work. The pair light is solid illuminated in the back but nothing comes out of the sub. I tried to repair and the soundbar says it is paired to the sub but nothing. Sub DOA will have to return.
This happened to me. I unplugged the sub for about 5 minutes and then plugged it back in and everything started working.

Apparently there are two models, the TS813 and the TS8132. I assume the TS8132 is the newer and current model. The biggest difference appears to be that the TS813 does not have optical and the TS8132 does, so if optical is important to you this could be a concern.

Since the Walmart listing says it supports optical and comes with an optical cable then it should be the TS8132. But about half the reviews say it doesn't have optical, so I guess it's a crap shoot on which one you get. I ordered one for shipping thinking that I might stand a better chance of getting the new model instead of one that's been on the store shelf for a year, but I could be wrong. I didn't feel like driving down there and fighting the crowd to find out which one they had.

The TCL product page is at https://www.tcl.com/us/en/products/sound-bars/alto-8-series/alto-8-plus-3-1-2-channel-sound-bar-ts81... [tcl.com] To further confuse matters near the top of the page it lists optical, but in the Specifications sections it says Optical = NO. The downloadable specs PDF says Yes.

I guess I'll find out in a few days when it arrives, and at least Walmart is easy for returns.
Lol, at some point it might just be better to buy what one needs.

Hub. The Harmony database shows the 8+ as in it, but it uses the model ts8111, which is the 8i. No buttons worked on the Harmony. I even tried the learning function, it accepted buttons, but none of it worked. I checked the Harmony database for the 813, 8132 and 813e, but none were in the database.
I was able to teach my hub the TCL remote buttons. I had to find the right distance and orientation of the TCL remote to the hub before it started working. And even then I had to reprogram a few buttons that didn't work on the first try. I took off the plastic coating on top of the remote too, not sure if that makes any difference.

Hi, does it have virtual surround (rear speakers)? And if so does it work well?

How is the clarity of dialogues from center Channel?

Thank you

The TS813 and TS 8132 both have an optical input. The only difference between the two models is that the TS813 does not come with the optical cable. I'm guessing that the TS813 was supposed to be a Walmart model and the TS8132 was going to most other retailers. It seems that TCL did not get the distribution they may have wanted to other retailers, for whatever reason.

I don't understand why they have to sell so many models under the Alto 8 branding. They have a 2.0, 2.1, and 3.1.2 models and finding reviews is super difficult.

Are you happy with your purchase? How is the sound quality?

Also is it quiet on the lowest setting? I am planning to use it at night in the bedroom.

Can anyone comment on whether it gets quiet enough to use at night in bedroom?

And overall quality of dialogue output from center Channel?

I see you have a few unanswered questions - hopefully I can help, as I've had the sound bar for about 3 weeks now.

"Can anyone comment on whether it gets quiet enough to use at night in bedroom?"
--- The sound bar has a night mode, which essentially dials back the bass in a big way (I don't even think the sub is active, but I can't confirm that). I will say that it gets pretty quiet in that mode, but I also don't have it in the bedroom with a sleeping partner next to me, so your mileage may vary. The lowest volume (2%) is almost inaudible.

"Am I happy with my purchase?"
--- Absolutely. For the money, I think it's a wonderful bargain. It's miles better than the speakers on my 2019 TCL 6-series 4K TV that it's hooked up to, but, on the other side of the coin, it doesn't hold a candle to my budget 2015 Energy 5.1 with Denon E300 surround set up. That said, I didn't buy it for that use case. I bought it to enhance the audio capabilities of my living room TV - and it does that really well.

"Overall quality of dialogue output from the center channel?"
--- Dialogue is far better than my TV's speakers, and I can't think of a time where I couldn't make out the dialogue in anything I've watched. Seems the center channel does a good job there.

Does it have virtual surround (rear speakers)? And if so does it work well?"
--- The bar does have the option to turn "Surround" on, but I tend to leave it off. Seems it just adds more reverb, but doesn't really simulate anything that I would equate to a rear-channel.

I hope this helps with your buying process. I'm not extremely well-versed in sound bars, but this thing does appear to be a major bang for your buck, and I'm very happy with. Even if the Atmos implementation isn't up to the standard of other Atmos sound bars, I think you would be very hard-pressed to find one for this kinda coin.

Thank you so so much and happy Holidays!

I didn't mean to post so many times but replies weren't showing up and then a few minutes later they all showed up.
