A word of advice: don't upgrade to Windows 11 -- they haven't worked out all the kinks yet.

When I bought this Asus I didn't expect a lot. However, it has exceeded my expectations. It's fast even when I open up a few dozen tabs and 5 programs open. The screen, although I don't think is IPS, is considerably clearer than a typical TN.
What does matter to the experience are the high clock and wattage that the chip can run at. It also can cool just two cores with whatever cooling capacity it has - so the chip is very responsive because it is at a good clock already.
Really, 4 cores and more are for heavy, continuous, workloads like editing, compiling etc. The combination of fast processor, NVMe, and reasonable memory makes normal multi-tasking like a user does seem very fluid.
I'm not saying this is the best deal in the world, but it performs very well and is built well - or, at better than most other bargain machines. So consider your needs when you decide.

I threw a 3200Mhz 8GB RAM stick in there, and now I have 16GB RAM in dual channel.
I guess it also says it on the spec page:

Yeah that's what I figured—I bought this for my wife for mostly web stuff. I'm still second guessing, since my 6 year old daughter will probably game a little on it, so I've been looking around for i5/i7 with Iris Xe. But I feel like whatever I find is a much lower build quality or can't be upgraded.
I haven't seen any budget laptops that can take a second drive other than this one.
I'm keeping it for now, unless something else comes along!
