I was going to buy this tablet, but I bought the fire hd 10+ instead for $105. Fire toolboxed it and it's a great tablet for cheap. It also gets updates for 4 years after amazon stops selling it, which will be at least a year or two. Samsung is only going to update the A7 for another year or so.
I for one am tired of companies cranking out a new tablet every year that isn't much different from the year before, and abandoning software updates.
My 2015 Fire HDX tablet got updates until earlier this year!
Just sayin

If you put a pre-formatted card in, it may not have given you the option. Go to settings/storage and try reformatting the card and see what you get. If it still doesn't work, let me know and I'll "fire" mine up (yeah, I'll throw myself out of the club now) and see if I can reproduce how to make it use system storage.
That having been said, you can always use the card for downloads/media storage and just use the internal storage for apps alone. It'd be challenging to get 32GB of android apps!
