What does this do? Is it a functional button or just for comfort?
Functional. Gives you 2 paddles on the left and right rear of controller. Allows you to map controller buttons to the paddles very easily and quickly. Also has input for a headset/headphones, standard 3.5mm Jack. Definitely worth it. I still use mine when playing PS4 games on a PS5.
Now if only Sony would make one for the PS5 controller.

Thank you! That def sounds worth $10. They should have your comment as the product detail instead of what it has now, lol.

A 3rd party company just announced a $230 pro controller that competes directly with Xbox elite if that's any consolation 😂👍

At first, you may not like the back buttons. I'd say it takes about a week to get used to them. You have to position your hands a certain way to be comfortable while using the buttons. After that week of learning how to use them and figuring out the button assignment, they're amazing. I think they're great for shooters especially because you can assign buttons so that you dont have to take your thumbs off of the analog sticks. Apex Legends for example, my left button is slide and the right one is jump. Or if you would like to save your left analog stick you can assign one of the buttons to run/walk. Its very easy to set up and well worth the price. I bought mine new when they came out for $29.99 and they still work fine.
I bought one when it was this price a while back. I used it once and haven't since. It's a cool idea and I know some people say you have to get used to it. If you use a PS4 controller a lot and want to take the time to do so, you may find it helpful. If you do more casual play or use your PS4 controller for other devices it may be lass useful.

For games where taking your hands off the sticks is undesirable. Such as fast paced shooters.
It's a nice little gadget. Very useful.
