Adapter in the box has round (barrel) connector. I don't know if you can charge through usb-c with third party power adapter.

Yes. It can be charged via USB C but it comes with a small barrel charger.

It's fine. You get a discount based on quality of the returned item (open box). In my experience a lot of stores are VERY lenient, meaning if a box is dented/scratched they'll automatically mark it as satisfactory or fair. I've even gotten a samsung washer/dryer and a XPS at 70% off from bestbuy because that store automatically marks all returns as fair/satisfactory. Once you get the items, you still have 14 days to return so I would test it thoroughly to make sure everything is good. Purchased about 5 expensive things from open-box and all turned out fine.

I would say to test it very carefully. As far as I can tell they don't inspect the returned/store demo items at all before shipping them. I bought a laptop locked in demo mode with the store code and one that had the bottom unscrewed where someone took it apart. I also bought bluetooth speakers that were probably flashed with the wrong firmware and couldn't stay connected. But worth the money as long as you have time to mess with it and your time isn't worth much.

This LG Gram or Lenovo Idepad 5i for $899? : https://www.costco.com/lenovo-ide...94677.html

I understand they are different segments, one is lighter and other one is more towards gaming. I am not a gamer, but the MX450 will help in productivity, and i7 is a plus.

There is no RJ-45. If you need wired Ethernet, you have to buy USB adapter

yes, ultrabooks dont have ethernet port to reduce weight and to keep it slim. That said, I think the description has an error since it quotes the RJ-45

I'm in between the LG gram vs the HP [costco.com] $800 after discount.
HP has an i7 (not a benefit for me, uses more power and I don't need the extra power) but it is rated for intel EVO (not sure how that benefits me directly)

Both have thunderbolt 3/4 - main reason why I want to upgrade.

I currently have last years model of the HP(HP Pavilion - 15-cs3073cl [hp.com]) which lacks a thunderbolt port. I did add a 1tb nvme ssd and can probably sell the laptop for $500-$700 to go towards grabbing the LG Gram or HP.

Any advice? I've been on the fence for awhile.
