Also anyone know how long this $50 discount on the 5a is going to be offered?

EDIT: I found it good through Dec 26th.

Apple is as bad - and apparently signed a secret deal with the Chinese government.

Samsung disables eSIM functionality on their flagship models (and claims it's because the carriers won't allow it - although Google and Apple seem to be able to persuade the carriers).

Motorola's only eSIM offering is the razr - and it's single sim to boot.

So who should I buy from, if I'm looking for 5G / dual sim with eSim?

Not a bad price but doesnt really seem like a big enough upgrade over my 4a 5g to warrant the pain of switching phones
Traded 4a 5g for $275, newer and bigger battery. Pay $125 more plus tax. I did.

Thats what they offered me. Sounds like someone got $310 if you look earlier in the thread, maybe they sold it private or something.

Is it a discount or google store credit (which expires after a year)?
It's an immediate, pretax discount that appears on the order page.

Can anyone verify that this works on Cricket or Verizon?

Pixel 4 user here. Phone was great all around in the beginning. Then they started updating everything. Now it sucks. I hate it. The only good thing aboutvit is the camera. Will never buy a Google phone again. Excited to see the world of Samsung in the future.

Nope. I have a Pixel 4a 5G that has eSIM, the Pixel 5 did - in fact the Pixel 2 & 2XL had it, but was only supported on Google FI.

Other brands with eSIM include the iPhones, Moto Razr, Samsung international models but not US..
Thank you hug

If you're looking into Google fi you can get it for $9/mo with a phone subscription for 2 years:
https://fi.google.com/about/phones/pixel-5a-5g

It shows as $15/mo with device protection but I was able to deselect the $6/mo device protection.
I'm on their page now and it seems like their "phone subscription" is $15/month for 2 years and the phone without protection plan is $9/month for 2 years. That totals to $24 x 24 months= $576. Is this correct or am I misinterpreting what it says? The phone is $349 if you buy it outright which saves you $227.

My wife and I have the 3a and they work fine on Cricket, so I assume this would as well.

This is at $349 on the fi app if you are able to keep to service active for 90 days. You get the 349 price right away at checkout, and should activate (if new Fi customer) and retain (for both new and existing Fi customers) the service active for 90 days in order to get this price. If you deactivate the service or take out the fi sim and put it in another phone, you break the terms of the agreement and Google will charge you the discounted $100 on your credit card that you used initially. What you can do is take out the Fi sim after activating (and NOT put it in another phone and switch on), and put your own sim (from another service like TMO or AT&T or others) into this pixel and use it like that. Just DON'T put the fi sim in another phone and switch it on.
The 90 days will cost like $25 x 3 months = $75 and that doesn't include data. Unless you have a google fi credit like me, it is probably better to pay the $399 and get 3 free months.

How is this compared to the 3A? I really like the 3a but it's gotten kind of sluggish and I use it heavily for work so I needed to be pretty snappy and quick

I'm considering picking up and eBay Refurbished iPhone 8 for around $130-$150 to use as a trade in. A working iPhone 8 is worth $235 so after tax I'm guessing I'd save about $80. The question of course is does it have to be unlocked.

The iphone doesn't need to be unlocked.
