I think it's a soft pull and will not affect credit score. But, I'm not 100% sure.

Edit:
Wait, it says "1 New line or new account $399.99, upgrade $499.99."
Does this mean I can get this for $499 without new line by adding on my existing line?

Someone did post in the Samsung flip thread that they did this for Samsung flip and didn't have to pay anything to T mobile at all since the phone was already unlocked and purchased outright.

The response from the other thread is pasted below

I paid $0 to cancel a never-activated line. When you pick up the phone from bestbuy do not put that sim inside. Put any other sim in. When you call T-Mobile, if you never jotted down the never activated Ph #, you can use the SIM card it came with to look up the never activated account to be able to cancel . It's $0 cause the line was never activated and because you bought unlocked outright
The question would be (if you will use it on T-Mo) does it matter if you use T-Mo branded phone or Unlocked phone on T-Mobile network, to make sure you take advantage of the network such as VoLTE, 5G, all the bands, etc.. I would be worried that non-T-mobile branded one might be lacking some features, because that happened in the past. Are they exact same model numbers, just one is locked and other unlocked? This is very important I believe.

Am I correct that phones nowadays can be easily moved among networks? Could I do this deal and then use it on Verizon?
Yes, this is an unlocked phone and can be used on any network.

If the phone is shipped, do they put a sim card in the phone?

Why would t-mobile allow such a glaring loophole?

Thanks for the response. Is there a way to know the phone number without inserting the SIM into the device? I didn't get the phone number from best buy store associate.
You should be able to cancel with the sim number which will be on the Sim card.

What about international roaming use with T-Mobile? My simple choice plan includes it so I don't know if the unlocked phone version will tell international carriers to work with T-Mobile as the T-Mobile version or is that not how it works?

As soon as I opt to add a line by providing my phone number and last 4, on the right hand side I see "Billed later by T-Mobile - $120.00/mo." It was $0.00/mo. until this step.
Does anyone know what this is?

That would be your monthly bill (based upon the plan you chose). If OP is correct though and you can cancel the line your total out of pocket would just be the $400 + tax for the phone
