Tru Grit is a relatively new brand with questionable quality control and unknown long term durability. Everyday Essentials has been around for a while and is considered 'good-enough' for a home gym and generally has a positive rep.

Plus, these EE plates are color coded while the TG is plain black.

With pricing being similar, I'd prefer the color coded EEs brand over the black TG.

Anyone know why the 55s are only 2.36" in thickness which is thinner than the 45s?

Larger steel insert maybe?
