Definitely better than the MyQ in my experience. MyQ has a dependency on the cloud and has latency returning open/close status on top of the Homebridge flakiness as well. Also, I have the Meross opener on a private VLAN with no internet access and it works flawlessly.

Pulled the trigger after contemplating if it was worth switching over from MyQ and homebridge for most of this past year. For $30 I'll give my old one to the in-laws and treat myself to a native HomeKit opener!

MyQ is garbage. Have both and myQ is an over engineered device with a LOT of things that can go wrong.

I grabbed one of these last time around. Works great on our ancient opener. Old chain drive style without sensors.

I have one of these, bought it about 2 years ago when it was super cheap on SD. It works really well through the Meross app on my phone. I get a push notification when the door opens or closes. On the app, it will show you if the door is open or closed and through the app I can open and close my door from anywhere in the world as long as I have a service on my phone and the wifi at my house is working.

I do have it integrated into my SmartThings system, and I have an Amazon Fire Tablet with ActionTiles to control things. I do have issues time to time where the icon on my dashboard shows the door open when it's actually closed or vice versa, but I don't attribute that to the Meross device itself, probably just the way it communicates in my system.

It also works great through Alexa. I can tell Alexa to open the door, and she asks for a verbal passcode, but it works every time. You can also tell Alexa to close the door, and she does it without hesitation.

Interesting. I checked AliExpress, sonoff wifi switch doesn't have the contact sensor.
I actually bought the non-homekit version (supposedly the v3 version) off from eBay yesterday. Only $20 + tax, which is the cheapest that I can find.

I have myQ working pretty good for 3-4 years now. I still hate it that it does not allow opening the garage door through any automation. So my questions for meross are:
Can you open the garage door by simply using a voice command or through Google routines?
Does it maintain state if it is manually opened?

People say you get this kind of behavior if the door is not opened/closed from the app. E.g., if you use your door wall button to open/close the garage.

Do you need any extra pieces to work on yours? I'm guessing it's chamberlain.

Website says I may need extra something since it's a yellow button on the garage opener.

Have one of these and I love it. Integrated it into my other smart home items to have it open when I am pulling into my driveway. It's a minor thing, but between not needing to hit the opener and peace of mind being able to see when it is opened and closed it worth it.
