I saw on bestbuy review, they said no USB C charging, might be a deal breaker for some people.

I bought a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 7i Pro 14" from Wal-mart for $700 around Black Friday. The user of the laptop is an artist and will be doing mostly Photoshop and Lightroom work so I got the Lenovo for the 2k 400nits screen (2880x1800).

Would this ZenBook be better for that use? I know the processor is i7 vs the Lenovo i5 and the SSD here is 512 vs 256 on the Lenovo. Basically, do the features of the ZenBook (better processor, bigger SSD, dedicated video, larger screen) override the better screen of the Lenovo and make it worth the extra $150? Again taking into account the planned photo editing use of the device.

I like this laptop a lot. When I bought my 15" Galaxy Book Pro 360, this was really the only other contender in the Bestbuy showroom. Specs and build quality are great.
Was there a reason why you picked the Galaxy Book Pro 360 over this? I was able to get a maxed out Galaxy Book Pro 360 over Black Friday for around the same price as this and now I'm wondering if I should return it (since the Asus has a dedicated GPU).

I hear the GPU is not amazing but you are right about it being dedicated. At the end of the day, I own everything Samsung and am generally very happy. As nice as the Asus is, the 360 might be one of the nicest out currently. It literally makes me want to use it all the time in the same way that Surface Pros make you want to use them.

I would say the screen resolution, which is good for gaming but not great for general/productivity usage

At 15.6" 1080P is more than enough resolution. It's very high pixel density so everything looks crisp if you keep the zoom at 100%. If you want higher resolution, you need a bigger (external) screen for that. Else you're just gonna be wasting money and setting the zoom to 300%.

Unless they play games, I would stick with the Lenovo. Better screen. If they play games, dedicated graphics with a bigger ssd and I7 might be worth it at the cost of screen resolution for another 150.

I wouldn't call 1080p on a 15.6" screen high density and I will not pay $800+ for a laptop with that screen unless it was just for gaming! Yes, with higher resolutions you may need scaling for some apps but most will be fine (in fact better) at QHD. you can fit more content on the screen and scroll less. Personally, after working on a higher resolution screen is really hard for me to use a 1080p screen even at 14", but maybe that's just my preference.
