Apples and oranges. The Metabo HPT saw is a portable jobsite saw. This Delta is a stationary saw. Also, the Delta has a cast iron, larger table. The Metabo has a cast... something... aluminum? table. There are several other differences, but portability, and cast iron table are the two biggest, IMHO.

It always cracks me up when retailers put the carbide-tipped blade in the product title or early in the description, as if it's not a wholly replaceable and consumable element. Tout the fence, cast iron table, mobile base, rails, rip capacity, or just about anything else that's actually a relatively permanent part of the tool! Most people who buy a $650 saw probably aren't going to be using the included blade for long.

Damn slick deal, though.

Great price. Would have jumped if I already didn't have an old r4512 saw with router table attached to it. Have 5 in nearby Lowes.

Same set up. I don't like the fence on mine but not enough to change out the saw.

How's this compare to the Hitachi that's on sale for $350 at Lowes?

When I enter my store online, it still says the $679.00 price. Does this vary store by store?

The in-store price will likely be different than what you see on the app, website, or BS. I looked at this saw on Sunday. That store had it for $600 then, but the app and website still said $679. I guess I should pay them another visit and see if they've dipped hte price to this OP level yet.

A couple stores near me have them in stock but say the MSRP. I'm happy to go if you're saying it will come up 50% off when I show up in store?

No promises. Maybe it will, maybe it will be 20%, maybe it will be full price. If you need a decent saw, you're going to have to put in a little effort to save some dosh. If you're not interested in the hunt, best to sit this one out. Lowe's discounts can vary wildly from store to store.
