Apples and oranges. The Metabo HPT saw is a portable jobsite saw. This Delta is a stationary saw. Also, the Delta has a cast iron, larger table. The Metabo has a cast... something... aluminum? table. There are several other differences, but portability, and cast iron table are the two biggest, IMHO.

It always cracks me up when retailers put the carbide-tipped blade in the product title or early in the description, as if it's not a wholly replaceable and consumable element. Tout the fence, cast iron table, mobile base, rails, rip capacity, or just about anything else that's actually a relatively permanent part of the tool! Most people who buy a $650 saw probably aren't going to be using the included blade for long.

Damn slick deal, though.

How's this compare to the Hitachi that's on sale for $350 at Lowes?
I'd assume this one is much better based on the brand alone but I was planning to buy the Metabo/Hitachi one until this just popped up

This Delta saw is overall better if you can dedicate the space to it. The HPT saw is also a great saw, but has a smaller aluminum top. Both can get consistent cuts but the Delta should be more stable when setup properly.

Besides this being 50%, anyone have any input on this table saw? Had been looking at getting one of the skilsaw or Dewalt ones in the same price range. This is obviously bigger is the only downside I can obviously see. Not sure if there are any other things to be thinking about.

Which saws exactly? The 350 range for 700 range? If you have the space this is the better saw. Larger cut capacity, much more stable and has cast iron top. It's definitely not very portable if you need that.

Even at $679, this is an excellent saw in that price range. Now 50% off, it's a no brainer. The only reason to go with the Metabo or other type of saw, is portability and space. If you have the space for this saw and don't need to take it from job to job, this saw is your best bet.

This is coming from someone who just purchased this saw and unloaded it into their garage 20 minutes ago

No specific model just some of the ones on SD that have been deals. Portability isn't a huge deal as I likely won't be moving it around much. Might have to go by my Lowes tonight to see if they have it.

You won't be disappointed in this saw. The fence is great and is perfect for a hobbyist or even a woodworker that isn't building high end cabinets, do some research and this is the saw alot of people recommend in this price range. Also it accepts a dado stack which alot of saws in this range do not.
