OK so I've used 'charcoal' for tooth whitening in the past and it does work however I would caution it's use for anyone who has crowns. I hadn't used my charcoal whitening powder in some time and in that time I had some dental work done including a new crown. I didn't think anything of it when I used the charcoal powder again. The black can get under the edge of the crown and leave a black line around your tooth which gives the appearance of a rotten tooth. Sure enough I looked it up and other people had the same issue. The stuff doesn't come out easily. It took weeks of my regular brushing and water flossing routine to get it all cleared out.
So word of caution.

The trick to keeping your teeth white is to deal the porous tubules in your enamel through the use of potassium nitrate better known to you guys as saltpeter..lol (KNO3)
And after extended use of 5% KNO3 the tubules in your enamel close and become resistant to staining from coffee etc. Of course you can get sensodyne with 5% potassium nitrate but a fluoride level 10 times lower-at a third the price
The high fluoride isnot a problem so much when your tubules in your enamel have been sealed though. I pay about $13 a tube for the Flouridex 1.1% NaFl and potassium nitrate which is probably more than most s would pay.
But your teeth are priceless so better to spend $300 a year on toothpaste then 1,000 for a crown or 3000 for a root canal...
Oh and I brush 5 to 6 times a day.....

First off what you're using is prescription in the US, so you're either in a different country or just left that part out. Any dentist will give you a prescription, but in the US this will cost you about $15-$20 per tube. We call it Prevident Booster Plus 5000 which is 1.1% fluoride but not 5% potassium nitrate. Prevident Booster Plus 5000 Sensitive has 5% potassium nitrate.
Second, potassium nitrate is a desensitizing agent and does block tubules in enamel (this is how it prevents sensitivity) but it does not prevent staining. Where you got that info, I have no freaking clue.
To claim that spending money on tooth paste will prevent decay and thus prevent crowns and root canals is so off base and ignorant. Please just stop spouting this nonsense
