Wasn't able to find dimensions of the cases, but I'm guessing the width to be around 18", width around 6.5" and maybe 2.5" tall per case / 7.5" tall total when stacked? So...roughly the size of a breadbox? Total ballpark. If someone owns one and wants to measure, that would be swell.

As far as quality is concerned, these are almost certainly on the lower end. I wouldn't depend on them for any considerable amount of shear strength requirements. I also don't know that I believe the "chrome" finish claim. Looks like standard zinc to me...which I'm perfectly fine with (takes gun bluing great if I need a black hardware piece), but some people might not be. I've found that kits like this can be useful if assembling/repairing things that don't require a lot of load, nor much torque to insert (pre-drilled pilot or threaded holes, for example). I make a lot of small crafts, customize toys for my kids, etc.

Anywho, hope this is helpful. If anyone wants to return the favor and can recommend empty stackable storage bins like this, I would be most appreciative. My brother-in-law gave me a metric crap-ton of assorted nuts/bolts/washers that his mechanic shop was ready to throw out, and I've been meaning to get them organized for ages.
This!
Shit, if you need higher grade hardware, at least you could use these to figure out what size it is, and then go in and buy the higher grade stuff....
In for 1. Looks like a good assortment. These are worth their weight in gold when you find yourself scrounging the garage or basement for that 1 nut or bolt you need to fix something

I hope you do better with this than I do (I'm actually certain that ANYONE does). I have done this for 20+ years on and off and all I have to show for it is increasingly hard-to-find bins/tackle boxes/ung jars/Rx vials full of, within themselves, hard-to-navigate messes.

Screw it (pun intended). I'm ordering this and throwing everything else away except my SS collection.

I mostly have Phillips screws so I have stopped trying to break them down into to many categories. For me it's:

1. Drywall long screw
2. Drywall short screws
3. Construction screw
4. Deck screws
5. Machine screws long
6. machine screws short
7. Anything else.

What you use the most should be categories. If you have a lot of what you don't use then recycle or put them on freecycle.

I spent way too much time organizing individual screws into 20 or so categories, as a homeowner, before realizing 80% of the time my search was for a drywall screw or a machine screw.

You need to have it organized enough that it wont discourage a search. Otherwise you are just taking up space.

This! I hate being the dude standing in aisle trying to figure out where & which bolt/nut or whatever I need…might save me a trip or 100

That's essentially 90% of the people in that aisle. You are definitely not alone in your search for 2 screws.

Often they will have a 2-pack for some ridiculous price, out of stock for a reasonable quantity (10-20) then have 10 boxes of 100 screws.

I am not opening a coffee table repair shop but I feel like I'm being extorted in buying 5 two-packs. Sometimes I just get the big box and I will get the opened pack so the guy with the coffee table repair business won't be short a screw or two.

One of the better things I did was to purchase from Bolt Depot a 50 or 100 pack of the most common sizes of #4 - #12 machine screws, nuts, and washers. Also common sizes in small metric. Smaller quantities of 1/4"-5/8" bolts, nuts and washers. Bolt Depot ships in small zippered bags with a nice label and the smaller bags fit well in Dewalt Deep Pro organizer bins.. It's quality hardware and the prices are good.
+1 on Thanks for the Bolt Depot rec. I'm sure I've seen their name pop up before. Combined with the very thorough list from @odbal https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=152207887&postcount=39 for common sizes.

Bolt Depot also has kits with containers
Metric https://www.boltdepot.com/Metric_....aspx?nv=l
US https://www.boltdepot.com/US_asso....aspx?nv=l

I bought a screw/bolt/nut gauge in 2020 so I wouldn't need to go into a store to match a door knob set screw. It turned out to be small metric so likely would have been a wasted and frustrating trip.
https://www.amazon.com/Stainlesst...U0UMK?th=1

Bolt Depot has plenty of printables you can lay a bolt, screw, washer, or nut on to find the size, too.

I find the harbor freight stackable cases great. The bins inside are removable. Let's see if the link works. https://www.harborfreight.com/sea...age%20case

My favorite for screws is:

Keter Trio. It isn't perfect but open two latches pull the tab to layout everything in the box at a glance and packs away just as easily.

https://toolguyd.com/keter-trio-organizer/

Tip if you have screws in a compartment and sawdust/drywall dust gets in there. I accidently blew air from my compressor near a compartment and reakized that the dust blows away without kicking out the screws. I was able to clean under the screws without removing any of them. Maybe it will work for my cupholder.

Ok how do you turn these black via gun bluing? What is this sorcery.

PermaBlue looks pretty much black when used on zinc. Sure, it's technically "blue", but it's so dark it matches pretty much any black hardware.

I do this too. Anything large (furniture, appliances, toys) that most folks would otherwise trash, I break down into its basic components and reuse/recycle. I haven't bought screws, bolts, nuts, washers, whatever in years! (...and same could be said for pieces of plastic, wood, and metal.)

Kept them sorted in glass jars and plastic boxes around my storage cabinet for years. Dip into it regularly for pieces and parts that have saved endless time and money over the years.

Then last spring, the $30 DeWalt stackable locking-lid storage boxes with removable interior bins went on sale for $10. I bought 3 of those, and all was neatly sorted and consolidated similarly this kit. I've never been more proud. Makes the "starter kit" listed here pale in comparison!

It's the little things...LOL.

how do you identify the size for each? That's been my struggle. what do you use? Not every product manual provides that information.

From what I've experienced:

Hillman (ACE) is complete garbage and might as well be silly putty. I strip/break screws from them constantly.
Everbilt (HomeDepot) is still really good quality and my preference
GripFast/Midwest Fastener (Menards) is decent. Step down from Everbilt, but way better than Hillman.

Never heard of Bulldog before.

This is interesting. My Lowe's carries Hillman and they are much better quality than the Everbilt. Not sure on Ace. For example the passed few Everbilt screws I got had the Philips slot offset and the bit kept sliding out. The Hillman was perfect quality. But I don't know about tensile strength.
