What would the price be for the XR on the $25 plan? Also, is a TracFone number eligible for porting for deals like this?
Quote from MikeC4751 :
can we get a lower plan after the first month?
I wonder what the price of the phone is when porting in to establish a new line on the $25/mo unlimited plan.

Thanks. Any ideas about the storage situation? Was hoping to get an SE as a secondary device for filming things
I am not a pro in term of taking pictures or filming, but I think it depends on a lot of factors. One thing you have to remember is that the iPhone SE doesn't have a microSD card slot, so 64Gb is all you get (probably around 40-45Gb usable after you installed apps and some spaces are used by system files). Also, it only gets a single 12MP camera so you may or may not be satisfied with the picture quality. Other thing to consider is the small battery. It only has a ~1800 mAh battery so the phone may run out of battery relatively quickly if you are filming things for a long time.

As mentioned earlier, I am not a pro in this area. So, other person may be able to give you a better answer than I do.

Quote from Value-not-cheap :
I suspect the catch is your number gets transferred to them and they won't release it back unless you remain active (pay for their service) throughout the 180 days. I will be elated to hear that my assumption above is incorrect; please correct me if you KNOW better
The answer is pretty complicated and we will have to separate the phone number issue with the unlock issue. First of all, the port in deal only requires you to port in a number and pay for 1 month of service in order to get the phone for free (or at a discount). After you get the phone, you can port out to another carrier as soon as you want. At the end, you get to keep both the phone and your number, but I don't remember whether it will affect the unlock or not.

For this kind of port in deal, most people use a disposable number rather than their primary number for the deal. So, most of us don't care whether they release the number or not. However, to answer your question, most prepaid carriers will first suspend your account if you don't pay for your service. If the account remains inactive for a specific number of time, the number will be recycled (i.e. you lost the number forever). So, in a sense, you are correct about the fact that they won't release your number if your account is inactive after the first month.

Source: Personal experience. I hopped through Tello, Mint, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Visible, Google Fi, etc. multiple times during last 3-4 years for phone or phone plan deals. I never need to keep the same cell phone number because I always give people my Google Voice number and have Google Voice to forward the call to my current phone number.

I tried in the store they told me I have to pay 149$ +tax, and after 2 month of active plan only I will receive debit card as rebate. Good luck if other stores allow.

Speaking from some recent unpleasant experience at a local corporate store (switched 2 lines - 3 weeks apart- from RedPocket's ATT lines to Metro + trade-in; snagged OnePlus Nord N10 and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G for $50 and $100 respectively), I believe corporate stores will not charge you activation fees.

Also, adding second line (second port-in) should bring down the monthly fees from $60 to $30. At least that is what FINALLY happened with me. Though like most metro stores, even some corporate stores are a bit shady, and they may lie at your face that adding/transferring in second line will be strictly $60 per month and combining the two lines in the same account may not help and may actually increase your total monthly fees by about $10 (happened to me when I ported in my second line to get Galaxy A52 for $100). They were jerks, so by experience, I didn't waste much time. Took the phone and $60 plan; got home and called customer service, told them the story which the lady on the phone was shocked to hear - the lies the rep at the corp store was feeding me. So, she checked the terms, checked if combining the lines into one account will help; and LO! my second line just dropped down to $30 per month instead of $60. There was no refund, but the kind lady credited all the injustice and lies back into my account with the dollar value I was overcharged.

Crazy thing is when I did the iPhone 12 mini on us with them. I'm supposed to get $150 virtual debit card. I never got it after 3 months. I called them and they told me to go back to the store where I bought it from. I went to the store and they told me to call customer service. Wtf? I just gave up n will never do that kind of deal again. METRO ARE SCAMMERS!!!!!
