Yea, thanks for the heads up. I totally jumped my kids up too early with some rival blasters because I enjoy them more than darts. I had to cock them for the kids and used them as a way to train them up on proper safety. It is really this past year they have been able to load them on their own. The knockout and this model are probably the easiest to load of all rivals and the only ones in the line they can really manage on their own. With some grip mods my 8yo can manage the Kronos style also. This model is a tad easier than the knockout because of its shape making it the easiest priming rival IMO.

Kids his age are throwing baseballs at each other pretty fast. If they can handle that, they can handle some fast flying foam with proper safety gear and instruction. Cardinal rules around here are:
- Safety glasses at all times
- Head shots don't count and if intentional you sit out
- No point blank shots

I think nerf is being a good deal cautious with 14+. I was paintballing by that age and on a real range (responsibly).

That said, I know not all the kids in attendence will be up to speed, so we'll be reviewing the rules and engaging parents to help guide kids on the field.

I also plan to make a good portion of the day target practice. Warm them up with rules and targets, then a couple live fire games, then move back to targets. This way they're on point during live fire but back to inanimate stuff when they start to loose focus.

Rival is not a joke, but honestly, you can take an eye out with a dart too if you act dumb.

Better to toughen them up at a young age.

Nice price, gearing up anytime there is rival around $5 price point. 8 YO requested a nerf party this year. After that we'll be all set to host 5 on 5 in the back yard anytime.

Does anyone know how hard these are to cock for young kids? I've made that mistake before.

I would think twice before getting these for young children. Rival balls pack a punch.

These are probably the easiest of all the rival line for kids. Mostly due to how you can grip the primer, but it is still a stiff prime.

My 8yo will do it all day long. My 6yo can manage, but it's still difficult enough she doesn't love it. They are also on the larger/fit end of their age range if that helps at all.

My son shot me between the eyes a few days back, not on purpose. Thankfully we were wearing safety goggles.

I cried a little bit until he told me to put on my big boy pants and suck it up. So yea, toughened me right up 😜

Does 42 count as a young age? Lol
