I think it's pretty safe to say that anyone who would go to the lengths to bring a scale to a store and stand there and carefully weigh individual packs of Pokemon cards, is the pinnacle of being a gigantic loser.
pokemon has attracted alot of shady / low lifes/ losers recently.
There' s no telling how low the scalpers can go

Total tech support, Look at Mr. Moneybags over here. Joking aside, I believe GameStop has 10 chilling reign packs for $29 as well today.

These booster pack names might as well be in Greek to me. Any recommendations on which to get for a 10 year old who collects just for fun?

We looked into actually playing and tried building a battle deck from the 100's of cards that he already has but discovered that he didn't have enough of one type of Pokemon to make one. Like he only had 2-3x basics, or 2x stage 1's, no stage 2's, etc. We did get some premade V Battle decks for him for xmas so we can actually play some matches but when it comes to these booster packs I have no idea what to get. Only thing I know is some are more recent releases than others, but not sure how much that matters.
FYI another option is just buying single copies of cards off sites like TCGPlayer or eBay. That's typically preferred for people who want to play the game with something specific and don't want to gamble opening packs.

When I used to travel to Tokyo for my job back around 2000 I used to buy the Japanese Pokemon cards. I still have a bunch in their original packaging. Anyone know if they're worth anything?

if you have 100s of cards that should be plenty to build decks. they might not be competitive level using ex/gx/v/vmax, but if the game is what you are after then you have plenty.
a deck consists of 60cards. but you can also play using 40cards. for item cards ONLY use potions and pokeballs. (getting into using trainers/ stadiums is a bit more tricky). and keep to 1-2 element types. so half your deck should be energies and the remainder can be your pokemon.

do not buy these packs expecting to build decks. these are soley for kids to rip something open or for those chasing specific cards.

lastly... if you need cards, ive got 4200 c/unc all boxed up I can ship you if interested.

Most likely yes if they are still in the original packaging.

I bought 15x for my kids a week ago. Never was able to order more than 5. Always been impossible to get since summer. I walk into my bestbuy and they has a whole isle full with thousands of packs.

So much for being hard to find.

Depends on your location, went to 3x best buys and 2x targets, all were out except for a weird booster with a promo card and coin.

Think my population density + how many flippers here make it rare to find more than 5-10 packs unweighted.
