It's personal preference. If you like the warm color temperature of traditional white xmas lights then you would want the RGB+W version. This one is RGB only and the white is a cooler color temperature.
"If you want to highlight a building's profile or rooftop, it can be hard to map all the scenes in one shot.
In this case, for a Linear Set Up our advice is not to map your lights!
All the effects can be applied to the strings even when not mapped, just keep the default tree shape LED configuration, and the effects will run in a linear direction on the string.
If you already took a layout, delete it, remove the device from the device list, and add it again following the guided procedure add new device. "
It depends on how badly you want accurate whites. It took me a while to find a color that closely matches my warm white other Christmas lights (but I bet doesn't match as well as the ones with white LEDs).
My biggest problem with these lights is the way they plug in and how impossible it was to map out the lights. So there are two sets of 300 lights and one plug right in the middle between the two strands. And on mapping: I lined the edge of my house with these and it looks great, but I cannot get it to map out to do something fancy like bottom row then top based on location. I just run designs based on long strands.

Purchased this for $220 on 11/3 and already price-matched it once for $200 on 11/10. Just got another price-match today. Wonder how much further down this will go!
I have 2 sets of 600 lights on a 10' pine outside my home. The software took some getting used to and I had to make sure they had WiFi. Now our tree is one of the neighborhoods favorite decorations according to neighbors. I'm tempted to get a 3rd set to make it higher resolution (you can join multiple sets).
Great! Just ordered, will be my third set of this kit. Can sell the music dongle for $20 too. I am using them on my lawn, per the comment above, I'm adding a third set so I can have higher density of lights for more vibrant effects. Two set was fine but I want it to really dazzle.

Are these better than the ones that also have the dedicated white led?

These are HUGE! I have one, and didnt realize how many leds are 600. So using the 'mapping' app almost never works for me. Great lights otherwise.
I COMPLETELY agree... how is mapping supposed to work??? I tried mapping and sometimes it says it found 1 LED... 1 whole LED... what is that? I did read somewhere that the Apple app is better than Android, so maybe I'll try a different device

I had difficulty mapping it last year when I had Android, but I switched to iphone this year and for some reason the mapping went MUCH better.
I got 2 of the 100 light sets to go on mini trees and they look amazing, along with a 600 set on a 6' tree. It's great because the mini sets can do all the custom designs I created for the bigger tree.
Tempted to make my 6 foot tree a 1200 light set but I wish they made white wire ones to go on a white tree.

Thanks, but I would love if color/patterns swept across the house. I have two levels laid out.
