Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

Here is how to do this successfully...

- Tell them you want to buy unlocked Samsung phone with a trade in
- Show them the page about the extra trade in (in store only value) when purchasing unlocked Samsung latest series smartphones
- Tell them they should do the trade in separate (by itself) from the purchase transaction
- After adding the trade in device info in the system, the lesser value will come up, but at the end on last screen, rep is able to add a promo code, he will add the code there and the extra trade in value will show up and be added (Promo is "SAMSUNG" supposedly, I was told). Rep should look up the code if he doesn't know it so it might take a little bit of time. Most reps don't even know about this deal so try to be nice while they try to get the deal for you.
- At the end, he will add that amount to a BB Gift Card
- Now, purchase the Unlocked phone of your choice (S21, S21 Ultra, Z Fold3, etc.)
- Upgrade/Activate Today to get the reduced price, again need to buy the unlocked version and activate/upgrade to get the $799 (s21 Ultra) or $999 (Z Fold3) or any other phone with discounted price.
- Pay with the gift card and the rest however you want
- Done deal

Sometimes rep doesn't want to do it. In that case, I guess try another store. It might take a little bit of work but show them this receipt as proof (see attached receipt) and that it's advertised on their own website if they refused and then they might do it. Again, always be nice and walk away if you are not getting the deal from that store. No need to be an asshole just because these employees are not aware of deals and don't feel like doing it.

Now, here is some info about the unlocked samsung phone. The phone is unlocked and should work on any carrier, doesn't matter which sim card you use first (not like Bestbuy iPhones that lock to first carrier sim used). Don't believe the rep if he says it will lock to t-mobile if you put that sim in it, not true. You can use the phone with whatever carrier you decide after you have it in hand. Just tell him/her that's fine, no need to discuss about this so I let them say whatever they want and just disregard it.

Good luck everyone.

Still no 512GB version of Ultra 5g available... guess i really will have to wait for the S22 Ultra 5g model. oh well.
At this point, it may be worthwhile to see what they do with the S22 Ultra. I believe it will be released on February 18th so you have less than two months to wait.

If it were me, I'd probably go for the S21 Ultra 512GB because they should have more inventory freed up (and a discounted price point) once the S22 drops.

I'm curious as well.
S21 Ultra beats Pixel 6 Pro in one major way - far superior fingerprint sensor. Also the S21U has option for facial recognition while P6P does not.

Most reviews say they are very similar but S21U is not worth $300 more. At $799 the S21U is the better buy.

Here are a few more S21 Ultra advantages from one comparison:
The Galaxy S21 Ultra retains a few distinct advantages over the Pixel 6 Pro with power-user features like DeX, its unique S Pen support, unmatched telephoto reach, and superior battery life. And while the scales ultimately tip in favor of the Pixel 6 Pro, it's a reasonably narrow victory that a few different priorities can tip the other way.

The s22 is coming out in a couple months, if you can wait you can either buy that or get this at an even better price, they are just trying to sell off inventory before it becomes worthless here

Trying to buy this with my wife's line (she is on Sprint, I'm on Google fi) it says it's an "upgrade" does this use up an upgrade in some way? Or is the line eligible for an upgrade since I'm paying full price and not doing any sort of bill credit? Just never know with Sprint.

Second question she has an iPhone, does activating an Android on the line then going back to iPhone mess up iMessage in anyway?

I think you are right, but the one problem I remember
Is if u stick in a tmobile Sim, the phone loads up tmobile firmware and it becomes tmobile phone. With the boot up showing tmobile and the apps are tmobile. This happened to me when. I did it for my notes plus a couple years ago.
Since the I believe Samsung S9 when you enter a new carrier sim.it automatically provisions the new carrier services. There is a difference between network lock to a carrier and carrier services. In the us at least it's as simple as slapping in a new sim or esim now with oneui 4. With Android 12/oneui 4 you have to manually go into sim services and turn on wifi calling at least att and Verizon because it disables it by default.

Network lock is different in the carrier provisioning is locked for some term because of a contract and this deal is not that because it is carrier unlocked and also you can use these phones on any carrier in the us by just swapping the sim. This is much different than iphones where I think people may get confused where the second you put in a sim it goes to apple activation server and gets network locked to the carrier.
