Was looking for a solution so I don't have to use google voice for checking texts on a second number .. this plan is great as I can make use of the dual sim feature of the phone and check everything under messages/voicemail
you can have an unlimited call/txt 2nd number using Google Voice, instead of getting a dual sim phone with this limited plan... plus GV works anywhere in the world, just need internet (cell or wifi)
this plan is great for home alarms, younger kids, loners/antisocial people, GPS tracking devices, etc... not as a 2nd line when you have free and robust options like GV
My mobile data just crapped out for the second time in maybe 3 months. My text and phone works, but not mobile data. I have plenty of data left on my plan for the month. Apparently, I am not the only one have a problem, as their chat support wait time is currently 55 minutes. I'm not going to renew with them again. Going to try something else.
Boo. I have lost the ability to make and receive calls with my t-mobile Samsung galaxy a71 5g (unlocked) with the redpocket att sim for the past week. I can still text and use data though. I have never had any real issues for like a decade with them until now as the "data calling" messed up my phone service.
I still have factory unlocked moto g stylus and I think that will work fine but I have been quite happy with my Samsung.
Not alone. Please red pocket. Fix the calling problems!

Oh wow, was not aware of this. I'm on GSMT and hope it won't be a disaster when T-mobile shuts down their 3G in July 2022. All of my family's phones are 4G/VoLTE capable but may not make it to their 'whitelist.'

I haven't seen much about what T-Mobile plans on doing vis-a-vis the 3G shutdown so I assume it's not as stringent as AT&T. I have a T-Mobile prepaid and also a GSMT line but both are on TMobile-branded phones. They're getting a little long in the tooth so I need to consider replacements if necessary. I'm hoping unlocked Tracfones will work.
What the heck is a71? I've only ever heard of the S series. I'd never tell anyone I use an a71. That's so low budget and embarrassing.
What planet do you live on? You are such a phone newbie that you never heard of Samsung Galaxy A71 5G and only think that Samsung only makes expensive flagships. Have you ever heard of the mid range market? Have you ever been to Best Buy, on Amazon or been on Samsung website? So "low budget"? The Samsung Galaxy A71 5G came out on July 2020 with a launch price at $599. Insert foot in mouth now.
Did you know that the Samsung Galaxy A51 was the 2nd highest sales phone in the entire world in 2020? Yep. The A series that you never ever heard about. It outsold the Galaxy S series and was only behind the iPhone 11. But you never ever heard of the A series and never heard of the Pixel A series phones too with the 765G chip. You only heard of the Samsung Galaxy flagships and the iphones and yet you are scoping out $30 redpocket annual plans for your really expensive flagship. HAHA. You can't make this up.
It is on the AT&T whitelist. I also checked at&t website (pdf form) and redpocket website and it is listed on both. It is the T-Mobile (unlocked) Samsung Galaxy A71 5G (model #A716U). The VOLTE is automatically enabled too. I looked up both at&t and t-mobile samsung galaxy a71 5G and they both appear to have the same model #A716U. I think I will change to the t-mobile (red pocket sim) with my next annual subscription (ends like a month and a half).

Where have you been, cellphones aren't much of a status symbol anymore since even children and welfare recipients carry $1000.00 phones. I'd actually take a Galaxy A71 over any Moto or fruit phone too.

*I see a lot of high schoolers at my gym and they got the +$1k phones and I bet they are using like a $80 month plan too. It is crazy. Nothing wrong spending less on a midrange phone and getting great value plans from redpocket or tracfone.
I have been very happy with it. It isn't perfect but it hits lot of the pros that I look for. As savy slickdealers, we pay "budget price sales" and get solid phones with 6.7" amoled, real nice 765G processor, long year support, etc. I got the great t-mobile samsung deal with the nice trade-in. I am all for the upper mid-rangers (or 2 year old flagships) at great deal prices. I can't see myself ever spending +$400 on a phone. The difference between a upper midrange and flagship is quite small to me. I also value great battery life and microSD support. I definitely don't need the latest greatest expensive phone for my uses.
What do people use these plans for? Communicating with their mistress?
Toss it in my "work" phone.... I don't want the corporate MDM crapware installed on my personal device, so I just use an older phone for work stuff with this sim. Most of the time I'm on wifi anyway, and the few times I'm not 200 megs/month is plenty to just get push e-mail.

That's because most phone sales come from third world countries who can't afford the s series or iPhones. But here in the USA you would be laughed off the bus carrying around an a71 or whatever low budget phone you have.
